Lightweight Stand Bags

Just pulled the trigger on a Titleist bag (4-way) that’s from a few years back when they were still made by Sun Mountain.  I actually used to use one before I got into the Hoofer and sold it back in 2016 like a moron.  In my opinion this is the best bag ever created.  Has no club tangle since it has the stand mechanism of the SM bag, ample storage, lightweight, thick strap, and nice sized water bottle pocket.  Also has a strap to secure the stand when you want to use a push cart or ride.     Lezzzz gooooo

Nice bag, but not a sun mtn

Really?

I'm pretty sure that model was 2 to 3 years after Sun Mtn stopped making them.  All of the Sun Mtn Titleist bags retained easily recognizable Sun Mtn fingerprints, and this model doesn't have any of those.  However, it is definitely better than the newer Titleist bags in my opinion.  My buddy still uses that bag.

I had one for years and for some reason decided to sell it and moved to Hoofer.  Spotted this bad boy on eBay and it gave me chills.

My buddy's weighs a ton because he takes advantage of all those pockets.  It's well built for sure.

As someone who doesn’t carry and primarily uses a push cart or rides, that’s exactly what I’m looking for. Probably won’t be packing the pockets like your buddy though, still like to keep it somewhat light.

How are the straps for comfort?   I like the size and weight as I carry 99% of the time but not sure about the thinner straps compared to Hoofer Lite.

Cool bag and can I ask what putter that is?

Just picked mine up yesterday. Going to test it around the house but I’m 99% sure it’s a keeper. @brew4eagle is spot on with his comments/reviews the HL is by far the best bag for that particular market. It’s minimal for storage and all the pockets are placed exactly where they should be. I normally hate double straps but this system feels great and doesn’t dig at all.

Used the bag for the first time today on my push cart — can confirm bag is heavy.  Despite that it fits like a GLOVE on my Bag Boy push cart, minimal to no club tangle, water bottle pocket is perfect size, and the pockets are nice and big.  Wonder why Titleist stopped using this design, there new bags suck compared to this bad boy.

Random FYI for anyone who owns multiple Sun Mountain bags: In the event you have a damaged leg or leg assembly, they are pretty much interchangeable unless you need carbon fiber.

A long drive/sloppy trunk packing job ended up breaking one of my 2.5+ legs, but I was able to cannibalize the same 4.5 that I took the straps from.

Let’s go!!!! I just took mine out for 18 today for the first time. So glad to be back with it after selling my original 3 years ago.  Such a great bag if you use a push cart or ride.

How long have you had yours?   What are the main factors that have led you to keep gaming it versus buying something new?

Its a 2018 bag I got in 2019. Love all the room and self standing if I want, fits great on push cart and riding carts plus if I want I minimize what I carry and its also a great walker. Although I did buy a new Plus Four just for walking if I want. The bag is as well built as any bag nowadays. I actually am looking for another but can only find red ones on the bay and I don't do red lol.

Went with the Carolina blue trim, nice choice.

I deviated slightly from my plan and went with the SM 2.5+ in black. I wanted Navy but the local store (NoVa) had everything but the Navy. Came down to black or Cobalt. Both great colors. Looking forward to taking it out Friday/Sunday for a walk. To give more context, I'm scheduled for a golf trip in the Fall that will involve multiple days of walking 36. Wanted the lightest possible bag available and will only carry 10 clubs to keep weight down. Have a few months to start getting in shape! Will continue to use my 2018 TM FlexTech as my cart bag and will likely replace it in a year or so.

I think it’s older than 2018, no?   I actually sold my original in 2018 and know I had it for at least a couple years. Small detail but  I love how it has the strap to keep the legs from pushing out when on the cart.

I don’t think I’d ever consider using this bag if I were to carry for 18. While the straps are comfortable, the balance and weight aren’t ideal.  If I carried full time I’m going Hoofer Lite or a SM 2.5 every day of the week.  Probably lean towards 2.5 because of the weight

Maybe they had this version for a couple of yrs. oldest it is is 2017. anyway it actually is one of the best carry bags I've ever had if u keep the weight to a minimum and thats coming from a guy who carried the Hoofer 2 for years. got a players 4 for a "sunday" type bag when the mood struck me or travel.

Fair enough — wonder why Titleist changed the design.  The material, pockets and straps were so much better.  Also the stand mechanism craps on the collapsable base which just ends up resulting in club tangle.

@brew4eagle What is the hook in between the stand legs on the HL? I assume it is for the rain hood, but I still don't understand the function/need.

It is for an elastic band on the rainhood, not totally necessary but does secure it in addition to the buttons on the sides

Ok - went out for my initial 9 hole walk last night. Weather was perfect in mid-Atlantic region and temps right around 65 degrees. Could not ask for a better evening to walk 9 holes. I haven't had a SM bag in probably 6 years and they do a lot right. There are so many little things that are done the right way. Looking forward to 18 holes Sunday morning assuming the rain keeps away for a few hours.

The only thing I regret I may regret is not getting the ez-fit straps.....I've found a decent spot with the X Straps, but wondering if EZ fit would have been more comfortable.

Just found a new 2019 version of the 2.5+ with single strap, had to pull the trigger as the 2019 version is the best Sun Mtn bag I've ever tried.  Don't like the newer versions with the square tops.  Will be my half set walking bag.  Hoofer Lite will be my every day bag.

Used to have it - the handle doesn’t dig into your back when carrying.  Incredible carry bag and much better than newer version in my opinion.
