Have you tried the M6 5 wood? How does it compare to the Sim Max??

Be careful with the F9 Tour fairway. Last year, I though the natural progression was to go from the F8+ to a F9 Tour. Turns out the head on the F9 Tour was 4º open at address in the standard setting. Traded it in. Definitely demo and see which one you like.

Just looked at the SIM (both models) and really disliked the shape but didn’t get a chance to hit. They are very round with a lot of face showing. Looks like a ball on the end of a stick. On the other hand, I absolutely loved the look, shape and feel of the standard Mavrik. Not generally a Callaway guy but these are definitely on my list for a fuller workout.

I know fitting can do alot for performance, but Im a feel player and have been for 35 years.

I spent time hitting SIM, Maverick SZ and G410 on trackman.

 

In short:

SIM was the longest but did not like the look. Also struggled with the sole of the club and my swing not getting along. Sprayed it a fair amount (certainly my fault).SZ was best feel and look for me. More accurate with my swing than SIM but not as long.G410 looks a little odd (shape) at address. Very accurate but spun a lot.

For me, none were compelling enough to replace my M5. There was longer and more forgiving. But M5 was the better total package, for me and my swing.

Tried the M5 in a 3 wood, it was like my old Cobra Ltd..

Crazy long at times.

Feel its Different for the 5 woods, due to higher launch and spinn. 5 wood is for me All about accuracy..

Would like to try the M5 5 wood, but it Would be a by and try.. Lets go ?

I hear you on 5 wood and accuracy. That is what I really enjoy about the M5... length and consistency.

 

However, if accuracy is your number one component, you may really want to give the G410 a spin... no pun intended haha!

I just tried an F9 at the shops, hit a few balls without warm-up, very easy, surprisingly forgiving. Though I found the face slightly upright... you need to try before you buy as usual...

I tried the Mavrik and I loved it, big fan of Rogue as well. Ping G410 is great.

I bought a Mizuno ST190 5W that I don’t recommend whatsoever.

How Would you compare the Roque to the Mavrik.?

Both feels similar, Mavrik has adjustable hosel and Mavrik Max can be set to draw. Rogue doesn’t have those adjustments but they can be found at an excellent price whereas Mavrik is at full price.

I don't see any reason to look further than Ping fairway woods, love the face, easy to launch, sit great behind the ball. Ive a G400 SFT 19 degree adjusted to 18 degrees that will be staying around. That said, it rotates with a 19 3 hybrid depending, if I'm honest, on how I feel that day.

Mavrik has an adjustable hosel? The callaway site shows a fixed hosel.

If you have the Epic Flash SZ 3w, you know how good that fairway is. I would leave well enough alone and get the matching 5w. I use the 5 as my only fairway, since it's kind of a weak 4/strong 5.

I think I’m going to be in the same boat as you GooseHook. Going to either have a 5w as the only fair or a Ping 7w turned down to 19*. I think that 18-19 fairway is the way to go.

The 5W shaft is fixed but the Mavrik Max has 2 weights that can be exchanged to create the draw effect and adjust slices

Here's an outside the box thought. If there are Cally Super Hybrids at the demo day, give one of those a try. I was fitted for one at a demo day and ended up ordering the 19 degree. Those really are an interesting alternative to fairway woods.

Actually I ordered a 20 degree that the Cally rep suggested setting at 19 degrees.

I just unloaded a 19* G400 hybrid that I was hitting 245 on average on the Golfzon last week. That is too far for my hybrid, as it creates to big a gap from my 4iron. So I want to pull back and get a 4hybrid and a 5w

Tried the Mavrik, prefer the Flash with adjustment neck..

Tried the Mizuno st200, that was fun.. Really Nice feel and flight with the Diamana D+ 70.. That is a contender as well..

But leaning towards the flash sz.... ☺️

The rogue 5 wood is awesome. Great look at address and easy to hit. Same with ts2 5 wood. Easy to launch and gets great ball speed.

I have not. For me it was more about head shape. The M5 headshape I liked better than M6 and the M5 was great. The Sim Max just has a better head shape for the 5 wood than the normal Sim. Just looks great.

Looked for a LONG time and finally found something that I can confidently hit off the deck. G410 5 Wood with Tour X shaft. Great feel and i really like the look. Lots of adjustability as well
