Is Taylormade replacing the P760 anytime soon?

Considering the P750 was about as perfect of a cavity back iron as there ever was. Many if not most TM tour players sill sticking with it, I think they need to used that as the base and build on it. The P760 did not catch on in the same way.

Agree 100%. I feel the P760 is trapped between iron categories a little bit.

The P760 is my favorite player's iron that I've ever played. I felt as though the P750 was a little too blade like for me but I could understand how a more workable player's cavity would be desired by some players. No matter what, I always place a lot of emphasis on the players look preferences in an iron. That goes for player's irons as well as game improvement.

I understand that. To my eye the R9 TP B heads are the best looking Taylormade irons ever. Any chance we see a zero offset (or close to) players CB ever again?

I had a set of them back in the day and it took me a while to get used to any iron with any offset. I am hopefully for another version of a non offset iron but am not aware of any for the future. :)

Yeah i really like the p760 profile. Not too chunky, not too slim. I'm hoping the upgrade in the fall (happy 2 year bday), doesn't change it too much. Perfect for the in between, the pros can use their 730s. :) Chris, I'm hoping p760 doesn't change to much! :)

Taylormade has to come out with a New “foamless” players Cavity Back. I have tried many Many iron sets and always go back to 750’s. Taylormade as a company has to want so many staffers and free agents to be in something “New” not irons from years and years ago.

... As long as we are wishing, I would also like to see a full set of P760's with a little thinner top line. The current offering looks just about perfect to my eye for size and shape but the smaller looking head makes the top line appear even thicker than it probably is. Side by side with my P790's the top line of the P760's looks thicker. Maybe even just bevel it off the back because the illusion of a thinner top line would work just fine. And rubbing my TM jeanie lamp cleaning up that tiger striped cavity would be a nice touch was those are my only 2 complaints about my P760's and both are cosmetic. To be fair to TM I don't notice the tiger stripe cavity when I am playing and I will admit they are very recognizable from a good distance away so I understand the marketing angle, but they have gotten enough complaints about that look to offer something a little cleaner when the new irons are released. So unless they change the sole for even cleaner turf interaction I really done;t wanna see anything changed with their size, shape or performance.

Yeah you really churched up what I'm thinking. I'll just say it. 760s are flat out fugly with a capital FUH (James Franco). The 760s are to Taylormade what the AP2s are to Titleist and there is really nothing wrong with that. I think both designs are just too busy.

I agree with some other comments. Head is too small, topline too big on current p760s. I would like to add a modern CB to my bag soon so hoping for big things!

I really don't care about head shape, toe geometry, or top line that much. But I absolutely cannot stand offset. It's a shame that most irons in the "Players" category have so much. I would be all over a P790 or P760 without offset.

... I play both and when you bend either one of them even 1* weak the offset is reduced and they are much more pleasing to the eye at address.

Just do away with the screw in the toe and the speed foam whatever you do. At least for one model have a solid-one piece player's cavity back. Clean up the cosmetics and make them clean looking. Those will be the best selling option.

... LOL, you are describing a completely different iron. Many if us that own P760's love the speed foam in the long irons and the screw in the toe could not be more irrelevant because it is a necessary evil. You want TM to make a solid one piece cavity back? I get that and agree, but don't throw out the baby with the bath water.

A very distinct styling, Taylormade has had with the 750, 760 and 770 lines. You have these very nice rounded style toes to the clubs and a very appealing top line et al. But the back has those stupid straight lines that resemble the grill of a car or a damn barbecue grill. Meanwhile, P7TW not considered because of Tiger himself developing the line with outside Taylormade entities, the 730 and the 790 look very appealing. Very players. Simple. Not gawdy. Smooth. One is a true blade and the other is borderline game improvement but more players distance / cavity with some of the best styling Taylormade has executed in a little while.

The new 760s, I hope to have a combination of those two designs in the thinner and sleeker package. I think the speedfoam is beneficial and helpful. I think the look from address is very nice. But man, do those straight lines and that badging on the back make me wanna wrap one around a tree.

Real Players play what works for them and how a club looks at address. What a club look like in the bag leaning on the club rack near the pro shop or at the driving range or on the back of a golf cart is not a consideration at all. I am about performance not about a club being sexy on the back of the club. There have been a lot of clubs past and present that look very attractive and won't work. What good is that!!! I just don't get it. The P760s perform and more than a dozen notable tour players recently have gone to them on the PGA, and secondary tours including the European Tour must mean something.

... "Real Players"? You run out of wine? I agree with you that most good players really only care about how their irons look at address and how they perform, but that doesn't mean they can't have opinions about an ugly cavity, especially if they still play them. I think the back of my P760's look hideous which doesn't stop me from playing them OR wishing the next version has a cleaner look.
