Agree here - the gap after your 8i could be addressed. I would focus on the game inside 130 rather than 180+. A tad stronger 9i and PW, and a wedge setup something like this: 48, 52, 56, 60.

Consider a pair that you alternate by course situation in the 185-yard zone:4i with softstepped shaft, for use on tight courses as tee club on short par 4 holes4H for use on more open courses (probably would carry 4H most of the time)

Thank you all for the great suggestions. I have a wedge fitting scheduled for March to look into the 48, 52, 56 wedge gapping that a few have suggested.

I am also keeping my eye open for a good deal on a 4 hybrid with my preferred shaft or a utility iron that I haven’t tried yet for the gap at the top of the bag.

I should be able to report back with my final decision at the end of March.

I know, but SM6 was released in 2016. If he plays golf on a regular basis it would be appropriate to check all his wedges. Besides a Titleist 50 might fly the same distance as a PING 52. So you can’t tell with his current 3-4 year old wedges how they perform compared to a new wedge in a proper wedge fitting. Besides there’s a lot more to a wedge fitting than fitting for distance on full wedge shots. :-) If he had SM7:s purchased after a proper fitting last season I would have taken a slightly different approach! ;-) (Still need to check what you have “New or Old”)
