2020 Cobra King Forged Tec Irons....who is playing them?

Who is playing them? How do you like them so far?

What were you choosing between P790, I500’s?

I wanted so bad to like them, but the P790 won out for me. The Cobras just spin a little too much for me compared to the 790s. Still, great irons that really look good!

Have a set on order after an outdoor demo day, off grass.

Toss up between Mizzy HMP 20's and these. Like the short irons better in the Cobras, plus more shaft options w/ no upcharge.

Modus 105 R , no arcos, 1* flat.

90 day playability, so we'll see how it goes. Liked what I saw outside hitting 7, 9, PW.... alot!

The Cobra aren't bad. Heard some have had issues with the foam 'breaking up' inside. Prefer the look of the i500 and HMBs better!!

Wow...that’s the first I’ve heard of this. I’m guessing they sent them back and or cut them open to find this out?

What all shafts did you try? I’m hearing some great things about these heads with the recoil shafts.

How do you know that the foam was breaking up? Was it coming out?

Tried $Taperlite, CTaper lite, DG 105, Modus 105 and 120 in the Cobras.

I currently play the Modus 105 stiff in Forged Tec Blacks.

DG 105, KBS Tour 105, Steelfiber 95i and Modus 120 in the HMP.

No love for the Modus 120 from me. Went with the 105 in regular after about hr with the Cobra rep.

The Cobras were a touch more forgiving than the Mizzy’s. And I was pretty tired when I hit the Mizunos.

I really liked the SF 95 regular in the HMP head, though. So much so I’m considering reshafting my FTB with them.

5 - GW with $-taper lite. Came to these from Rogue Pros with XP 105. Most notable difference is dispersion, or rather the lack thereof. I find the Forged Tec to be deadly accurate, and very consistent distance-wise. Outstanding irons.

I picked up a 5 iron to use as a transition club. I hit it head to head with the new P790 and like everything about it better. Still waiting to hit it off grass (Michigan winter ?)

Fantastic set of irons. I’m thoroughly impressed on all levels. My dispersion and distances are amazingly tight compared to anything else I’ve played. Super forgiving. Fantastic feel with the $-Taper Lites. Like butter.

Came from Apex 19s I were fitted for earlier in the year. Next level for sure.

Interesting. Not going to worry until we hear about it in retail sets, but good to note it so Cobra knows. Maybe the fitting head got some rough treatment.

Otherwise, these irons do standout among the hollow-head contingent. Ball comes off the face smooth and fast. Sound is solid. They’re not the most compact — bigger than the Mizuno HMB and the P790 — but the way the head is proportioned, it works. If you’re in need of a full-set speed boost, these are worth considering.

How do they compare to the Tec Black? Anyone hit both w/similar shaft enough to tell the difference?

I just got a set of the new Forged Tec and have been playing the Forged Tec Blacks for about 18 months or so.

I really like the FTB’s ( I’m partial to black irons) but am moving to R flex shafts. Fitted to the new FTs in the same shaft, Modus105, but in Regular flex.

Haven’t dialed in the new ones yet, so we’ll see in a few weeks if they stick around.

when demoing I also really liked the Mizzy MP 20 HMB and the Wilson Staff D7forged.

What is your initial reaction right away? I hit them both indoors on a monitor and liked the feel of the black better but they were different shafts. Almost felt softer. I couldn't take anything else away from that since I was inside other than the new Tec’s flying further which I don’t really care about, more concerned with consistent distances. And the fact that if they’re that similar I’m happy with a used set for $600 less

Finally got to hit my 5 iron on the course yesterday in Arizona. 220 yard par 3 with a little bit of wind in our face. Pured a baby draw to pin high maybe 15 feet left of the hole. Of course I missed the putt but consider me hooked! It's just so easy to hit and feels great for such a forgiving club.

I just picked up a set of these in 4-PW that were on a demo sale locally. They have the $ Taper Lites that I play in other irons already in them, and for what I gave for them, it was a steal. So far after a couple rounds with the 5-PW in my bag, I like them. The lofts are strong and the face feels hot for sure. I’ll play the next couple months with them because I really like the feel and the look at address. Time will tell if they stay in the bag. I was looking for a new set anyway to give me a bit more forgiveness than my old Razr X MB’s...

I have te Forged Tec 20's on deck if my Callaway Apex 19's start to give me trouble. I've told the Apex's & they know if they get out of line I could bench them so they are behaving themselves quite nicely.

I was fit into Cobra Forged Tec Irons with Project X LZ 5.5's at Club Champion. Instead of paying $2800, I found them with the same specs on Ebay for $675. Yesterday I played my first round with them. I like the long irons, however, I'm not a fan of the 9, PW and GW. The sound is real tinny, there's no feel, and the ball flight is much higher than I'm used too. I'll give them a month and a few rounds to see if they grow on me. After having my previous irons for a decade, I'm afraid of the club hoe rabbit hole I'm headed down.

I just bought the 5 and 6 iron in one length, 1 degree flat and weak, $Taper Lite in X, to mix with my iBlades 7-PW which are standard length. It’s got potential to be a pretty great combo. I’m a short guy and middle/short irons are my strength, so I’m hoping 7 iron length long irons improve my long iron play a bit.
