How much do you pay for golf clubs?

Drivers, Fairway Woods, and a putter are the only things I purchase from a golf store. My irons I make myself from components, which is not difficult at all. I still use my 2015 vintage driver and Fairway Woods. I would probably pay $350 for a driver and $200 for a putter if I were to buy again, and get my hybrids and Fairway woods from places like Callaway pre-owned which I would probably pay about $125 for each if I were to buy them again. I'm a believer that this distance rage is overblown, I look to keep the ball in play much more than I look for distance.

Cally preowned is my "go to" for used clubs. Been burned by ebay. Won't go back.

New Irons/woods I will get from my fitter. Costs more but I would rather give a local guy my business for new stuff.

@produff26 May i ask how you were burned on eBay? I do a lot of purchasing of golf clubs on eBay and haven't had the same experience. Just want to know what to look out for in the future.

I would put my cap at about $150 for a single club - driver, FW, hybrid, wedge, putter. And about $300 for a set of irons.

All of my clubs except my putter were from Ebay, and all brand new.

Driver - $200

3W - $120

Hybrids - $100 each

Irons - $650

 

Wedges - $140 each - heads only (from Japan)

 

Scotty Cameron - Full retail price.

Ebay is filled with counterfeit merchandise. One must proceed with caution and use reputable sellers (2nd swing, Callaway Pre-owned, etc.).

New condition, but not current model year. It's legit. Was listed as used, but did not have a mark on it. $129 head only, from reputable Ebay seller.

I buy from my local club and a local golf store. Occasionally I'll pick up a piece straight from the OEM. Will pay w/e they are charging at the time, but always enjoy when stuff goes on sale.

I buy 90% of my clubs on Ebay. Depending on the club but I do my shopping around so feel I usually get a pretty good deal. No more than $200 on a used driver and around the same for irons.

Quite a bit paid as much as $1600 for a set of XXIO Eleven irons. That was the list price but I traded in a set of Ping 400 irons to ease the pain.

Depends on what you're looking for.

Older generation clubs which are still alot more visually appealing then more recent tech shovels you can probably bag a set for under $1000.

Bag of 14 new market goodies is dependent on manufacturer but probably from $1500 to forclosure.

Ebay works great for me as I tend to buy used player's clubs that appear to still be in their factory configuration. If I notice even one difference from the factory catalog, I'll assume the clubs were already fitted for someone else and I won't get them.

Wedges $30-$40 each

I normally pay the seller around the amount of cash they are looking to get out of the purchase. Makes things far smoother I find.

I recently went through buying a whole new set, bought it piece by piece over 9 months.

some were bought here through the WTB forums and others on ebay. I’m significantly under retail for what I have and for the first time in a long time am completely happy with my gear

Bought a fake Scotty putter and GD AD DI 6S shaft.

 

In both cases, Pics were legit but product I received was counterfeit. I was new to ebay and not too savvy! Still, I would rather spend $300 and be confident the product is legit than $150 wondering..........

Ebay is great once you find that legit seller.
