Titleist 818 H1 or Epic Hybrid

I know nothing about the Epic but I currently have 818 H1 heads in 21, 23, 25, 27 and am keeping my eye out for back-ups as folks off load them at good price. I only put two in the bag at a time. In a perfect world, they would be the exact same shape, feel, playing characteristics in a 10-15% smaller size. The TS2/3 series hybrids generate a skosh more speed (~1-2 mph) but it comes at expense of feel, a bigger sole, and in the higher lofts the face looks a bit ‘off’ (ie, loft seems exaggerated and gives impression shot will be a moon ball).

Agree with @Z1ggy16 & @Aviador Naval Best hybrids I have ever used and keep going back to is the 818 Series, specifially 818H2 for me. Sound, feel and price right now makes them a no brainer.

It’s a great shaft imo. Put it up on BST if you don’t get along with it and I’m sure it will sell fast. But I would try it first, it really compliments the heads well

818.

I’ve had both. Prefer the 818 in every category although it barely wins in a couple. The epic is cool with the carbon fiber look on top but the sound and feel is 818 all day. I think they’re both technologically comparable but the edge goes to the 818 for consistency and better of the 2 when it comes to anti left (including adjustability on both).

Plus the stock headcover is one of the best looking OEM hybrid headcovers.

I have tested the TS2 and found it very, very good, just not keen on paying $350 for it. And now I see this overflowing praise for the 818 hybrids, guess I have to buy one and test it, been looking for a good hybrid ever since TM Rescue, never should have gotten rid of it.

I have seen new 818's for sale at $130.

818 all day long, Titleist really seem to have a low key success story with these. See plenty of them out and about and in people’s bags and rarely a bad word said about them on here.

I can't compare against the 818 love here but I have gamed the Epics for 2 years and have no desire to replace per se. The 4H is quite workable for me as a rinky. Open choke, high cut. Close it up low draw. The high toe look is what many don't like on the Cally's. It may not have the new face tech or jailbreak, but it still delivers.

 

Good news: both clubs are very very good and you won't have a stinker :)

818 is a great club i play the h2 and bought a ts2 thinking new model equal better but for me the h2 is better and just a great line as I have hit both the h1 and h2 both performed. I do love the atmos shaft.

If you bought it new it should come with the 14g fade/draw weight

This is just my experience...Atmos is a mid flight mid spin shaft for me. It’s labeled as a low spin mid flight shaft but I don’t feel that’s the case. It’s a great ball flight without any ballooning issues. The Tensei however was all over the place for me. Probably because the Atmos has a higher kick point towards the handle which is what I’m used to him my driver and three wood it makes an easier transition

Fuji Atmos Black, Blue, or Red? compared to which Tensi Blue - 70 or 80?

I have both the Atmos Red and Tensi Blue 70 in regular flex. The Atmos Red is noticeably heavier(at least in feel, only 8 g heavier), the ball flight looks a little more penetrating. Both came with an extra 14g Surefit weight. Distance with both shafts seem similar to me. I prefer the Atmos Red over the Tensi Blue, ymmv.

818h1 atmos blue here. Will echo the comments about the mid flight without ballooning issues. Think you'll be pleased!
