What does everyone use for their 100-110 yard shot

100 yards - full 58 unless I want to take some spin off of it.

105 yards - what I feel is about 90% or smooth 54.

110 yards - just about full 54 (full is about 112).

Stock full swing SW or GW depending on the yardage. 100 is my SW, GW would be about 115-120 so might have to lay back on that a touch.

For me, this would depend on elevation and wind. If you take those out of the equation, a full SW (54) would be my choice. If up hill or in to the wind, I would hit my 48 degree GW about 80%. I wouldn't choose my PW as I'd have to take too much off of it to hit it 100ish yards. That's my 140-150 yard club.

That is the sweet spot for a full swing G wedge for me, love that range. That is my money zone to leave it on par 5's for my 3rd shot if I can't run one up to pitching range. My full swings with my 54 and 58 have been too shady to trust from 80 or 95 lately.

110 - 50* GW (about 90-95% since it's a 115-118 type club)

As others have said, it also depends on course conditions, temperature, wind, trouble, etc...

 

My preferred setup at this end of the bag is:

LW: 80

SW: 100

GW: 115

PW: 130

Get your loft checked? Had this issue a few years back and turned out the loft was off from what I thought by 2*.

@BIG STU yep, we're old school and the young whippersnappers know it all. What I learned early on was the importance of using all 14 clubs in diverse ways. Dang, I love this game. Golf is about creating shots for an unexpected yardage. Expecting to have a specific club for each yardage and one swing length is a recipe for lots of oopsie and who knows what else. One day some of them will learn it's not so much what other young guys have in the bag but what the old school guys know, use and do to win against the young guys.

55 goes right on 105 for me +/- depending on conditions

 

@OP - try messing around with opening face on PW, I generally find it easier to hit a soft cut to take 10yards off than backing off the swing.

My Ping Glide 3.0 49* goes 110 yards with 11:00 clock swing, 10:00 clock swing goes 100 yards and 9:00 clock swing goes 90 yards.

Usually step on a 56° or back off and 3/4 a 52°. When I start losing distance it's because the grooves are worn and the ball is sliding up the face.

I usually hit the ball on the equator with the leading edge of my 58* wedge. It goes about 100 yards, about 6 feet off the ground, and runs into the foliage about 25 yards behind the green.

I lack a bit of firepower, but usually this shot would be an all out 54* down wind, 50* either backed off of parallel or chocked down 1/2", or a 3/4 46*. I've been also playing with hitting a 3/4 9i to go about 110, with a little bit of a cut, but it usually ends up like the 58* equator shot described above.

This is impressive. I'm not sure I could hit a 30 yard soft pitch over a bunker and make it stop with a 52°. I find it much easier to use the most lofted club and de-loft it to run out/go further than add loft for a shorter shot.

The 52 is what I got comfortable with, so that is what I use for 99% of my pitches. I do carry a 58 degree wedge that I only use in bunkers and when I have to get the ball in the air quick near the green. Other than that, I am using my 52.

I thought the same thing. Don't know many skilled golfers that would bother with 52* inside of 30yds. If the lie and green conditions are perfect, I can open the face of 52* to make it more like my 58*, however the probabilities of error and being long on the pin, increase. With 58* though, I can ignore the bunker and throw the ball just short of the pin and it will stop.

A buddy uses a 54* for most shots because that's what he trusts. Unfortunately, trust doesn't prevent the ball from running past the pin on short shots. He carry's a 60* too, go figure.

I’m with this guy. 100 is my bang on smooth swing SW shot. Probably the most consistent shot that I have (which isn’t saying much)
