Favorite Odyssey #7

my first real putter was the white hot #7 fang putter.

I’d like to get one for old times sake but also to give the blade a rest.

what’s your favorite version of this headshape and why?

The new stroke lab ones are super cheap on callaway preowned right now. They’re all the new tech added to the smaller size 7 head.

My two favorites are the two I still have (but in back-up). Tank #7 and Metal X Milled #7. The only reason why they are in my back-up rotation is due to the double bend shaft that is a PITA to get loft/lie exactly the way I like it.

Versa #7. This is the more compact style.

I definitely prefer the smaller head. And the versa/ white and black color scheme is a no go.

Was the smaller Versa before or after the Works Versa? I just got a Works Versa with white hot insert and love it but would like the smaller headsize. Love the size/shape of the Toulon Las Vegas

WHP #7 best putter they ever made IMO.. I ran mine over with a golf cart, reshafted it never the same...

Something to keep in mind, smaller head 7 is lower MOI than a Newport style blade. The larger head is significantly higher. I used to think the 7 was a MOI putter but it really isn’t.

I was surprised. The 2 ball and small 7 was pretty low MOI.

MOI isn't a concern, I play a heavy blade now and I like it but alignment gets off from time to time. My betti half moon and spider si usually help me get it online, but I lose some feel.

MOI isn’t everything. The 7 is popular for its alignment and how easy it is to pick up the ball ?

I don’t think it’s off. Callaway/Odyssey has said on their podcast the original 2 ball shape was actually low MOI. They’ve also said the reason why they did EXO was to get the 7s MOI up over 5k.

 

The small 7 just isn’t that stable of a putter. It’s great at other things. MOI isn’t everything.

I agree MOI isn't everything unless you are hitting way off center. I think a consistent stroke and confidence in your alignment are more important. I gamed a Yes! Callie Forged and Newport Select for years. Great putters but they weren't as stable/consistent rotation(for me) as the Toulon Las Vegas or the Ping Tyne I have when tested on SAM.

I still prefer the blades over mallets for a heavily breaking short putt, but I haven't been gaming mallets as long.

Pulled the trigger on the Vegas h7.

really happy after the first round. I mean who isn’t happy with a new putter.

i like the slant neck, it’s new for me, but it’s nice to let the putter open and close without having to worry about manipulation.

the Toulon milling and metal feels great. I’ve always liked metal faces and the inserts always kept me away from the white hot and insert series of the head shape. I like not seeing the face from address and the color definitely helps

Purchased a Las Vegas h7 towards the end of last season and have no desire to change. Had a KBS CT black matte shaft put in and an Iomic grip and I absolutely love it. Really helps me with alignment and feels as good as anything.

Picked one up a couple of weeks ago. It arrived in like new condition. I had tried one in a local shop and just thought it was OK, but for half price I decided to give it a go.

I hit a bunch of putts side by side with my O-Works 7. I was a little surprised in that I much preferred the Stroke Lab. I only have 3 rounds under my belt with it and I am having a lot of success. We will see how long it last but for now the Stroke Lab wins out kind of easily for me.

I'm still not sure what I feel like Stroke Lab does for me. It does feel different. I do like the different feel. I’m not sure if it is translating to a more consistent stroke or if it just feels more balanced. Like you said, it’s noticeable when you go back to a putter without it.

Metal x milled for me, played it for 2 years and loved it

WHP - first version in black with “Pro” logo. Best putter ever.

With that said I just replaced it with new Odyssey Ten which I find to be absolutely awesome.

I have a White Ice #7. It’s the only one that I’ve used so I guess that’s it.
