You know, the funny thing is that the puppy messes up the guys game more than it does ours. We have actually tried to use this to our advantage when we play a match. But yes, it takes someone that is out there to bring a dog without permission from the others.

Plenty of opportunities for discussion during the round, just keep the golf portion moving.

Last week, I ran into a guy I used to play with, we were two twosomes. So naturally we joined into a foursome.

Now I remember why I lost his number.

He's also the guy who "loves the stage". He wants all eyes on him while he methodically plays his shot... Just stop.

hooo boy do i have a doozy. played with 2 other guys that i got grouped with ( i usually play by myself and walk). this one guy was an interesting one. he would constantly talk, even during everyones swings. wuld take minutes to take his swings. and at one point he grabbed my clubs without even asking and started cleaning them. it was the strangest thing i ever experienced.

I have no regular playing partners so i get hooked up with other golfers alot. Out here in Sun City Arizona area you will get a lot of fun folks to play with so most times its a good day. But "the guy" i hate playing with is the one who obviously sucks at golf but makes it seem like it the fault of everything from slow greens to the wind to the sun in his eyes or possibly alien intervention. But somehow miraculously after finding every water hazard, bunker or OB area he manages to claim he shot an 80 when he probably hit that mark after 12 holes.. I just laugh and go on my way.

We'll hook him up with my golf partner. They're twins. That garbage drives me nuts. I have to tell him to shut up and hit the ball 10 times a round. He also likes to whine and sit on the box after hitting bad shots. It's not usually a big deal unless we're playing a scramble and I hit after him. Then I have to tell him to shut up and get off the box. I think Covid is helping our friendship because playing golf with him over the years has really worn down my patience.

I hate that wanna be pro guy, that isnt anywhere close. Also that guy that tells you all about his great rounds as he is shooting 100. I am lucky the guys i play with regularly are down to earth people, one thinks he is terrible but shoot below 80 regularly.

Guy in our friendly work/friends league is a 0-1 HCP our format to be short is a 80% of your 9 hole HCP. This guy will bitch all day everyday about it. Even though 3 of the last 4 years he's been in the top 3. he'll play a 9 one round a year and they catch fire he'll shoot like a +3 and get 5/24 points and then it weeks of how unfair it is.

I used to play with a guy who EVERYONE likes off the course...but eventually NOBODY wants to play with him because he becomes a total psycho when he golfs. It surprises me how golf brings out SO MUCH ODD BEHAVIOR in some people. Some otherwise "normal" people go into another place out on the golf course...and quickly show how weird they are.

I must be the guy nobody wants to play with. I played in a pairing of 4 random singles yesterday morning. Nice guys, I thought we all got along great, all similar skill levels, good rhythm/pace, about 15-20 years older than me though. After putting out on #18, the three of them walk about 30 feet away from me and with their backs turned to me, start exchanging numbers, talking about how they should play again next weekend, one guy already has a time reserved they can use, etc. Nobody asked me and I wasn't going to butt in, even though I would have really enjoyed playing with them again. I think I come off as too quiet/serious even though I'm no great golfer.

Most people want to hang out with others of a similar age. Maybe they assumed you wouldn't want to play with them regularly?

Update from the OP:

I never even had to say anything. The three of them also play on Thursdays and apparently one of my playing partners got so ticked off at him, he flat out said mid-round: "I want you to go play ahead of us and never show up for one of our tee times again. You're out."

Haven't gotten the full story yet, but apparently the a-hole flung a club and damn near took my buddies shins out.

obviously no one like to play with the slow guy. and I would be quick to never call him again. But to me the worst guy on the course is the slow guy who knows it and doesn't give a rat's arse. I paid as much as them ....Who cares..... blah blah blah.........that just flips me out

Looks like the dog won't be coming along for a round of golf anymore. The superintendent was having a rough day yesterday and he told the guy that his dog was not allowed on the greens. Hopefully this remedies the situation!

I play with a guy who always brings his dog. BUT, it's an Australian Shepherd and he listens very well.

He also poops on the first hole every time and his owner is always surprised by it, and calls him a MFer for it lol.

That one "gal" I hate playing with. A year or two ago there's a certain woman in my club that I vow'ed never to play in a group with her again. I made the mistake today of playing in a group with her & remembered immediately why I made that vow. Just FYI, I do not mind playing with very high handicappers at all, as long as they keep up the pace.....and she does that pretty well. BUT, she's a really bad player, who makes lots of really bad shots, and she tells us WHY the bad shot she just made is so bad, & then tells us what she did wrong to make that bad shot.......EVERY SINGLE SHOT !!!! And usually she'll follow up with "I've never made that shot before" or "I've never been in this area of the course before"... And of course she's been there/done that many times before. I renewed my vow once again today, hope I never forget it.

I got paired up with a guy, sharing a cart no less, on one of my rounds on my Palm Springs trip this winter. He had a scrappy game with literally maybe 150-160 yard drives but managed to somehow make bogie over and over. Decent short game. But one of the ways he made that happen was he didn't recognize sand traps. He hit it in them, he threw it out. Ok, whatever, kind of annoying, it's his score, etc, etc. But one hole we both hit in the same trap. I play mine of course, but blade it over the green into another trap. Eventually end up with a double I think. He throws his ball out, hits a nice pitch, tap--in par. And then proceeds to be proud of it. That got me. Earlier in the round he was making phone calls, setting up other tee times for that week. And he never, ever watched where my ball went. Something I try and do for everyone in my group and had done for him. Oh, and he kept holding us up to take pictures of stuff. Often inane stuff. Although it was a beautiful course.... Most annoying guy I can remember playing with.

Otherwise I must be lucky because my playing buddies and randos I've been paired up with mostly have been ok to downright pleasant.

A friend of mine raised/trained service dogs. He would bring his dog when we played. The dog was very well-mannered. Didn't bark, didn't chase geese, never walked on the green. It was good training for the dog in working in different environments.

OP... Call the guy out when he acts like a doosh! tell him that's not how you talk to the staff it aint cool bro! Tell the other guys that he's a giant doosh and he's out of your group... you're not the one that has to leave unless you're too polite or something!!!
