Yeah it’s the one things that over the last few days has been a minor deal breaker and made me wish I didn’t sell my 919 HMP 4-iron.

Hopefully the performance increase justifies the upgrade or my inner club-ho.

Heard the 921 forged will have slightly stronger lofts and increased ball speed from the chromoly design.

I'm hoping the reasoning for the gap wedge coming with all of them is not b/c they went super strong in the lofts (like a 43* PW).

If the Tour's kept traditional lofts and have a 50* gap wedge, then I think I finally found the set to kick out my 900 Tours.

Personally, I was hoping the forged model was going more towards the tour. I'm starting to really dislike my 919f due to the distances they go.

I really don't like hot, strongly lofted irons and am thinking I should have stayed with my mp-18 SC.

Maybe it's the hot weather these days, but I'm seeing some low spin, low flight shots from my current irons, and they sometimes don't hold the green.

Probably due to a combination of too stiff of a shaft and a couple degrees stronger lofts on these 919f.

I'm either going to bend these weak, reshaft to something softer, or get fully refit for new irons.

I'm playing pretty good golf, but my irons need more height and spin. Maybe I'll look at the 921t, although I never got along with the 919t. Hit the middle mp models better for some reason.

Yeah I get that, but it's unlikely that it would go that way considering it is a "Players distance iron". The lofts on the 919's is considered modern now a days with the 28 degree 6 iron.

As someone who is more of a sweeper I struggle with getting my spin-up from not compressing the ball enough, but going for that fitting would be ideal since my fitter was able to put me into a iron shaft that has a higher flight with an angle of descent that allows me to hold greens regardless of spin.

The 921 tours are supposedly more forgiving so I hope those work out for you, especially with the more traditional lofts that sound like they would suit your game better.

Adding a few degrees loft can make a healthy difference in height and spin. Bonus- cuts some offset out too...

I am kinda with you one the distance thing. I didn’t look too much into the lofts when I purchase the 919F upon release. Soft, long, forgiving, high launch for me, but Could use more spin.

I can’t imagine playing a softer shaft. Any softer and the dispersion would be all over the map. All around, I really love the feel, weight and forgiveness of the 919F/DG120 X100 combo.

For those that know- Would it be worth looking at the 921T in the same shaft?

Or would forgiveness drop off the map.

Can't wait to see these in person. My club builder and fitter hit them this week and he and his staff came away super impressed. Was told the looks at address are much better with less offset and modified sole design. Said the whole line is really impressive.

I'm easily seeing a combo set just not sure which route to go. Definitely tours from 7/8-pw and I definitely want a HMP 4iron. Just not sure what to do in-between until they can be hit. Mizuno does such a good job listening to their followers and making adjustments on newer models. This is exciting!

Maybe the stronger lofts are to keep launch and spin down with the new design. I quit looking at lofts 3 yrs ago - and just try to find some wedges that fit for the transition from 9i. I don't find that CB wedges work well for me. Need a blade. Looks like wedges will start at 44, 48, 53, 58 this year. Need a blade for that 44 spot

My 900F are in California, getting ready for a workout in October, never sell those, only irons I ever shot in the 60’s with.

i did not see, or hit, but my Mizuno guy did yesterday, said feel was awesome, shorter blade, top line more like 900.

i am probably going straight 921F

The Tour's have less offset too? These are going to be my ideal irons if that is the case.

The stronger lofts will probably move the 921 forged out of the running for me if that's the case. I'm fine adding 2 degrees of loft to get my yardages where I want them but I'd have to add 3* to the 8 and 9 iron in the Forged. Seems like a best case scenarion for me at this point would be a blended set of the Tours and the Forged. If not I'll probably just wait for the MP 22s.

Fully agree, I like your approach. Only way to minimize doubt is to get fully fit and spec'd out.

@youngun87 that’s what I was told yesterday. I’ll double check with him again today. If he comes away impressed, then I have to believe him. He’s been building clubs for a select few PGA players for a long time.

The difference is 1° thru the set for the 921F. With the redesign and material change, is 1° stronger loft really a deal breaker? The stronger loft tells me deeper CG which means to me anyway, there’s a potential for a higher peak height and steeper descent angle which will negate whatever loss of spin -1° of loft makes.
