New shoes....no need to spend $200 any longer

Recommended Posts

I was in desperate need of new golf shoes.....went and tried on everything from the Spieth 3 (ugly as sin) to the Sketchers (not stable for me), the FJ line and everything in between like the new Ricky Pumas (too heavy and expensive). I have to say the new Adidas 360XT Tours were the best feeling and the most stable of the bunch. BUT at their price level I was not feeling overly generous to hand out that type of money at this time.... SO in trying everything on and walking around like a moron for 2 hours i settled on the Tech Response 2. adidas Men's Tech Response 2.0 Golf ShoesNot only are these very light on the feet but are very stable for such a light platform. They wrapped around your feet for a very nice feel At $70, they seem like a steal. Im hoping these last at least three seasons and im done spending over $200 for golf shoes. Its been 7 years since i bought a pair because the last 360's i bought lasted quite a while. The technology of the newer shoes is ridiculous nowadays.

Anyone else find a good deal or an unexpected shoe they really like that was somewhat of a bargain?

i don’t like when people count other people’s money or try and tell them why it’s dumb they spent x amount on something. I’ve spent anywhere from 20-600 for golf shoes and I don’t regret any of them

That’s what Burlington and Ross are for. $200 golf shoes for $19.99-$39.99.

I like my custom wingtips

I wear a 14 4e and have an interesting collection of any shoe that fits and was on sale... mostly new balance and foot joy, but have a few oddballs in there as well.

You get what you pay for. Buy a new shoe for under $100 and you shouldn't expect more that 20-40 rounds out of them. Buying NOS shoes - beware of how long they've been sitting around and where. I've seen plenty of "good deals" go bad after a couple of rounds. There are deals to be had. Just know what you are getting by doing as much Googleing as you can.

Reminds me of shoes my dad would wear. Spending $200 on shoes every other year... if you already play golf, that's a fart in a windstorm if you ask me. I pay 10x that much every year in greens fees, practicing and ho-ing clubs. I paid like $150 for my Nike Tour Premeires and they are still in like 8/10 condition. I have no doubt I could get at least 2 more yrs out of them if I baby them.

Ahhhh yes....

The Dicks sporting goods/Academy/any half as**d sporting good store with a little golf section always in stock adidas special. The shoes my 65 yr old pops enjoys wearing. The shoes that look like they come with a free bowl of soup or oatmeal. The shoes that automatically match the white new balances in your closet and the corvette in the garage. The shoes of the dude that hits it 150 down the middle but still waits for the green to clear on a par 5. The shoes of free golf lessons mid round. The shoes that say I collect social security. The shoes that conversations always start with “back in my day”. The shoes of golfers who bought pure spin/alien wedges. The shoes of the golfer that uses a chipper. The shoes of the golfer that still has the retail label on the shafts right above the hosel. The shoes of the age group most affectEd by Covid-19 (too soon?)

Or also known as the boomer shoes.

They also come with the mindset of anyone who buy shoes that actually look decent are wasting their money.

I think the OP was just happy finding a $70 pair of shoes he liked and wanted people to share anything they liked that was on the lower end of the cost spectrum. But then people started being people, and the gist of the topic was lost.

For myself, I really like the Nike Roshe G Tours, and even at the regular price of $110 are cheaper than most offerings.

True. I usually look for the more expensive ones because im a big believer in you get what you pay for....most of the time.......

The adidas i bought were surprisingly stable and very comfortable and very light on my feet. Im sure the durability question will be answered soon enough but for now, i found something i like that is priced right.

I also looked at the Rosche...good price on those as well

20-40 round on shoes under $100? What are you smoking? I have 4 pairs of waterproof FJs for $60 each and 2 are 5 years old and the newer ones going on 3rd year. And I play 80-100 rounds a year. All of them are in perfect functional condition.

Most people wear one pair of shoes only and don't treat them very well. If you walk and weigh over 200lbs - a cheap pair will not last long.

I've never been a big fan of Adidas, as they are too tight in the toe box for my feet, generally speaking. I do not typically wear wide shoes in any other brand. I was at Dicks looking for some shoes, and found a pair of Adidas CP Traxion spikeless shoes for $60-$70. They had my size (13, which are hard to find in any kind of variety in stock), but they were standard width and a bit narrow. I went home and found them on Amazon for $48 and they are some of the most comfortable shoes I've worn. I've tried all of the expensive shoes and none of them have ever been comfortable to me. Ecco are the absolute worst. If you gave me a pair of them, I'd probably gift them to someone else. I typically play right around 100 rounds/year, and the last pair of shoes I had lasted around 2.5 years before the sole started to fall apart. If I can get a year out of a pair of shoes and I find them comfortable, I'll keep buying them as long as they're available.

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open. GolfWRX was on-site Tuesday to catch a glimpse into the bags of some of the world’s top golfers.

The field of 144 is getting ready to battle starting Thursday for the $7.7 million purse, with $1.386 million going to the winner. The tournament is also the last event where players can qualify for The Masters, just like Canadian Corey Conners did last year.
