I know no politics but alt-right? This joke, while maybe offensive, has no politics in it whatsoever. People have been making jokes regarding race, religion, sexual orientation, you name it. Doesn't make it political. Don't fall into that trap.

from what I've read on another forum - his twitter account also followed a bunch of other alt-right/QAnon accounts, so if to be believed, it's not like he's just parrotting a poor joke out of ignorance

Plenty of successful comedians let it rip on all of the above and it’s perfectly fine, people even laugh. I’m sure there’s at least a few intelligent patrons in the crowd. Dave Chappelle is one that comes to mind off the top of my head but there’s plenty more. He has a quote that makes a lot of sense. “I support anyone’s right to be who they want to be.” My question is: “To what extent do I have to participate in your self-image?”

Each to their own, but its one thing watching something like that to actually telling them jokes yourself, i know if i started telling my friends homophobic and racist jokes they wouldn't be my friends for very long, and i wouldn't blame them

The problem is he represents other people and their business interests. When a J--- A-- makes stupid comments wearing branded products from someone else, that person is seen as an arm of those products thus those comments are in effect coming from those companies and that is business suicide. There is no choice but to cut the problem out immediately. He may continue to use the Titleist products but he won't be allowed to have their name/brand visable on anything he wears or uses.

He knew what he was doing. And no doubt he did soften from what he actually believes. Nobody in a position like that goes full blast. Guys like that get into a comfort level of making all the wisecracks and off color remarks and outright cruel comments amongst each other, and they see the same themes all over social media from sources they follow and agree with, so they rationalize it's no big deal to follow suit. I guarantee he was stunned at any blowback. It never dawns on them that there is an entire world out there that isn't fearful and exclusionary. They don't hear that side from their colleagues and they don't see that side in the galleries, not in this sport.

Yup that’s what happens when the punishment doesn’t fit the crime. Normal everyday people see this as a harmless joke and will support Piercy more than ever.
