Rogue drive, Epic Flash woods/hybrids -> all Mavrik... club love!

Senior golf with slow swing speed. Can't change it so I try to adapt with the latest and greatest equipment... but I tend to favor Callaway.

I've been playing the Rogue driver for the last two years. Senior flex, 10.5*. It's been a good performer and helped stabilize my drives. I would hit about half the fairways on a typical round. Miss was normally a slice, but not a bad one.

Switched to the Mavrik with the same specs (including shaft) and wow, what an improvement. Drives were longer and on my first 18 with it, I hit every fairway except 1. Was it me instead of the driver? Probably a combination of both because I did a lot of practice during the winter, but nothing with a driver... all irons. So I know my swing has improved, but I was not expecting this with a driver. I actually found that it was going exactly where I wanted it to go. I'm not sure if this is draw biased but it certainly seemed that it was a little bit.

Also swapped out my Epic Flash 3w, 5w, and 4h for Mavrik 3w, 5w, and 4h. Same results... longer and seemed much easier to control. A few mishits went a little right with the 3w, which is my normal miss, but for the most part, I had a much easier time keeping the ball on my target line. I intentionally do not practice in my indoor hitting bay with driver or woods because I just don't feel like I get good contact, so I was quite worried that I would have trouble getting good contact on my first round with these new clubs. I found just the opposite. I found that I was underestimating what I could do with these clubs until later in the round when I stopped worrying about a mishit and just focused on hitting them harder. They did not disappoint.

I'm not a Callaway fan boy, but with performance like this, it's hard not to be. With the weather conditions as difficult as they were, I found that these clubs really kept my score much lower than it would have been otherwise. I shot an 89, which I was a little disappointed in, but my 3 playing partners were all over 100 and they are usually in the low 90's. When the wind is affecting your putts, your scores are going to suffer.

Scored an eagle on the par 4 6th hole for my first eagle of my short career. I could not have done it without a gorgeous drive that found the center of the fairway about 190 yards from the tee.

We all know that there's a lot of hype by the big OEM's when it comes to talking about the performance of their clubs, but when you see them perform the way I did, you may change the way you feel about what they are saying.

Standard Mavrik or Max?

I'm playing the Mavrik driver and fairway wood (#4) and for me they are the real deal.

Standard Mavrik. I was concerned about whether I should be playing the standard or the max, but I'm convinced I made the right decision to go with the standard.
