Well, it seems like every year or so, the light/cameras find a new Player to fixate on, though I have faith that it’ll swing back to Bernhard at some point in the future, hahaha

 

Regarding Scott McCarron, what do ya think, is he or isn’t he, or does he or doesn’t he??

 

The top pic below appears as though his hand is at least between his pecs and at the most touching that area and I’d have a hard time believing that his top hand is not touching skin at some point through the stroke.

 

Obviously what I THINK that I’m seeing is not what is actually is occurring as there’s noFW the Tour would let him putt in that manner if I was correct.

 

i don’t know McClarron though I do Colt and he’s a straight shooter & a great guy and I’m kinda surprised that he stepped out like this though he doesn’t have your typical passive private club entitled Tour Boy personality, and he’s no Brooksy, ie., his chirping about Patrick.

Top pic isn’t the best look for sure, especially when compared to the bottom one which looks fine to me. Harder to tell in the vid for me.

Hate to say much not being there - but that pic with the pink shirt - if he’s off the chest it would be by the narrowest of margins, which is all it needs to be, but still ..... He is a little more well endowed than he used to be, maybe some melon factor at work distorting perspective, lol.

When my daughter and I got to go to Augusta a few years ago I got up close and personal with Bernhard several times and have followed him on another occasion. Seen enough I’m convinced he doesn’t anchor.

I still haven’t seen anything that convinces me about Langer, and if he says he isn’t, I believe him.

I'm sure they are following the rules, but there really shouldn't be any doubt. I think they should require the putter to be a visible distance away from the body.

Not to defend those guys as I can't stand watching that putting stroke, but isn't the freeze frame misleading? I think these guys do have their hand on their chest as they setup and get into position, but move it slightly off their chest just as they are about to pull the trigger and make the stroke. Overall, it's just not a good look, but I'm over it.

I am thinking he does the same thing as Langer, anchor while setup and practice stroke, but moves away when it's the real stroke. Thus why screen caps can be misleading. It's annoying enough people though, that the tours if they really wanted to enforce the no anchor rule, shouldn't leave this kind of grey area where fans lose faith in them. Good thing it's not the only stupid rule they have in place though.

RP, that's a great question. The still frame on the top as well as the video certainly make it look like he is pretty anchored, but that last picture is very obviously not. The fact that the guy is a little larger than he used to be may be causing some kind of visual issue when in reality there isn't one.

I will say, until somebody in his group calls him out on it, I'm going to believe both him and Langer that they are not anchoring. I'm sure there is going to be a focus on McCarron in the coming events, which will help get more angles and more video of the stroke, which will help make a bit more educated decision on it, one way or another.

I don't think they anchor, but it doesn't really matter what I think. I guess if guys on the Champion's Tour speak out, that's what really matters.

I don’t care. The tours have their rules officials and if they don’t penalize the player then the player is doing everything in the rules and it’s a non issue.

I personally have always questioned Mccaron s stroke vs Langers. Mccaron looks like anchoring to me quite often
Now. There are a couple of rules experts here , who in the past have argued that I’m seeing things. I have yet to understand the explanation of WHY it’s not anchoring.
my understanding is that if your wrist hand or forearm is “ pressing “ it’s anchored. The top picture clearly shows his hand and wrist pressed much deeper into his chest than the surrounding chest area. Unless he’s a DD cup. That’s anchored. His shirt is clearly pleated where his wrist is pressed. And this isn’t a rare picture.
