Well I guess I am lucky my course and others are open here. And this is ironic all of this has hit here on my first week of full retirement. I officially retired April 1. I am sorta keeping on my retirement plan to lose weight. Since I am actively doing more stuff than sitting on my butt driving a truck I have found out I exercise more and eat less. I have lost about 7 pounds since April 1 st not really trying food wise. But I have been pretty darn active. I will be going in a few to walk our little dog around the neighborhood. Then I will go over to the course and walk 5 holes or so with my 7 club set. Then ride 18 with my full set. The other day I did what has become my morning ritual and added 18 more holes. I felt fine and energized the next day. The only thing missing that I have came to cherish is my morning ritual of sitting on the patio at my course enjoying my cigar and cup of coffee. Due to emergency we can not congregate or sit on the patio etc. But you can not deter a redneck. I will walk my little dog while puffing on my cigar and drinking my coffee out of I guess you call it a sippee cup.

I really hate for you folks ( and I sincerely hate it) that are not as lucky as I am. I guess if they restrict us more and the courses close I can work in my shop and hit into my net.

Thursday April 9th, what would have been the first day of the Masters. I woke up to snow.

I finally watched a old golf tournament, the 1986 Masters, on ESPN. My favorite. He won again.

75 degree day, no clouds, zero wind and can't GOLF or FISH!!!!!! Got started on putting together a backyard hitting station.

Watched the '97 Masters. Seeing the broadcast again with the benefit of hind sight, all the established tour guys just had a dejected look on their face the entire final round. That must've sucked to be nearer the end of your career trying to grind out a number while a young kid was 10+ shots clear most of the day. I'm really enjoying watching old tournament broadcasts.

We got some good news. Golf courses here will open with restrictions May 1st. So I got that to look forward to.

On the no gym-fitness front. I got this weighted vest and it is fantastic for adding resistance to push-ups (with elevated feet, it’s killer), Bulgarian split squats, single leg dead lifts. I’m not doing enough pull-ups to use it yet. The added weight brings the rep count down to a good range. And you can adjust the weight incrementally by the pound.

Pro tip... Wear regular pants daily because elastic waistbands can lull you into the false sense that everything is good on the home front.
