You people are all INSANE.

Go on with your lives.

You Are Going To Die.

It might happen with a goat,

It might happen in a boat,

It might sneak up your throat,

You are Going To Die.

It might come from a virus,

It might come from a girl named Iris,

It won't come from Cypress,

You are Going To Die.

Move on and don't be afraid!

All our open courses were absolutely packed today, everyone "working from home" may give our courses a boost. That being said, if some of the tourneys l'm going to play dont get cancelled I think a cart per player would be nice. I may just walk.

My husband is high risk and going to the golf course is the only time we’re leaving the house. We’ve got our own cart, the course is letting yearly cardholders check in by phone, and we’re putting with the flag in at all times. It’s a Del Webb community and the old folks are smart enough to stay away from each other and protect themselves.

Frankly, based on the current management, if we didn’t have our own cart, we wouldn’t be playing, at all. I don’t think there’s a lot of sanitizing going on in that cart barn.

I think they’ll close at some point, primarily because they’re having trouble getting staff to come in.

My course just sent out a newsletter that it will remain open, and they are disinfecting the rental fleet during the day. Same with restrooms. Most of us seniors own our own cart, with 2 carts per shed. My shed partner is in his 80's, so we don't play in the same groups.

Club house discourages hanging out in the Pro Shop. Just let them know we are on the course, and tee off. Tournaments are going to be delayed for now. They are promoting the 6' distance after a round (19th hole).

I plan to keep playing several times per week, but will play (and practice on range) alone. I have a buddy that joins me for a Friday afternoon game, and he probably will end up renting a cart.

my wife is a RN and tries to quarantine my daughter and I. I said safest place is golf course and at the gym I swim laps instead of weights or treadmill. I will start bringing my own bottle of birdie juice , My buddy and I swig a gulp of fireball or Jameson after one of us birdies. I will try and be smart but will not cut out golf unless course closes. Don't see that happening, bar and restaurant already closed but courses open for now. I agree with above post you have to live your life, but you still have to make concessions and be smart. Its not fair to high risk people to be out in clubs partying and pass virus on and on while others doing their part. But we all know a lot of people don't see big picture and only care about themselves and the right now.

I typically drive to the course with one of my playing partners and ride in a cart with him. Assuming my local course is open the next time I go play, my plan is to (1) drive separately, and (2) walk while he takes the cart. I'll have him drive me the four or five times in the round where the tee boxes are a mile from the last hole. That should only put us near each other for a few 1-minute stretches at a time.

I'm in my early 30's and he's in the at-risk group. I'm not concerned about myself, but I am concerned about getting him sick. He's probably going to fight my plan because he hates making a fuss about stuff, but I'm going to put my foot down.

My course is a total pain to walk (hilly, some very long stretches between holes), but I'll do it.

Exactly that. People don’t do the minimum and act as if nothing is going on. I see it day in and day out. Coughing into their hands, in the air, and not washing or using any sort of deferment at all. The scary thing about this virus is it’s incubation period so we can not show any signs of sickness until up to 14 days later. Think how many interactions happens in between now and 2 weeks. That golf community especially with the older population needs to shut down for the safety of each other. All it takes is 1 to start the spread. Just think, a bat in the Wuhan region then now all around the world. Yes the panic that i see right now just makes me think how screwed we would be if we saw worse situations. Thank goodness it is treated with the seriousness it is now. I know we all want to golf but we just need to shut down any activity and help curb the spread while they are developing treatment. Vaccines i heard are still a year out. Not sure how exact but this virus is going to change the way we approach things going forward.

I'm sorry, but this is ignorant and dangerous. Yes, we are all going to die. But, of course, for most of us it makes a difference when that occurs. Perhaps you are joking, but its not funny.

Risk = likelihood x consequence. Since we really don't have a way of effectively dealing with consequences at this point, all we can do is reduce the likelihood of transmission. Ignoring the guidelines for safe behavior increase the likelihood that you will infect someone else, and for them to then go on to infect others. Since this may mean suffering and death for some who are infected, it is very irresponsible to make statements like "just go on with your life." This is simply being careless with other people's lives. This attitude has undoubtedly already resulted in the deaths of many, many innocent people around the world, and things are about to get much worse here in the U.S.

Lots of folks are going to get this virus, and many of those will need significant medical care. Whether or not this turns into a societal catastrophe depends on whether all those folks get the virus at the same time (overwhelming our medical system's ability to cope, resulting in lots of folks dying needlessly because there aren't enough ventilators, etc.), or whether we slow the rate of transmission to the point where the medical system can keep up. Right now, everyone doing their part is the only way we can control which of these scenarios will be our future.

My main point, while somewhat obscured, was that we need to get on with our lives. To live in fear is foolish.

I am not saying not to be cautious, but the current US death toll as of today, according to CNN, was 100. More people fall off ladders and slip in the shower and die every day.

100 elderly dead versus the US population of 350 Million people? This is mass hysteria.

No social golf distancing here yet. Sunday I played and rode with my brother and tomorrow I'll ride with my league golf partner.

A client of mine who is a member of Merion said they were told to take separate carts. My friend who belongs to another local country club said they "closed" and it's walking only to golf.

The Gov of PA announced all non essential business to close for 2 weeks and that includes golf courses. The public course I belong to has yet to say anything about closing.

Around 2PM this afternoon Topgolf in Northern VA was on a 30 minute wait for a stall. The crowd was a mix of seniors, college kids, parents with young children and the usual mid day golf client crowd. Their precautions included closing every other stall to maintain space and spend more time flipping the stalls so they could bleach all the clubs.

Every person who walked thru that door made their own decision to be a part of the public or not. So if a couple of seniors in stall 220 wind up next to 6 frat boys on stall 222 who aren't worried about their health, who's to blame? Blame the frat boys for not caring and not staying in? I'm so confused by all this.

My club just changed their cart policy on the weekends, which I hate to say it, is awesome. I really hated the fact that if I wanted to play at a decent time I had to ride on the weekends. So I will be playing at roughly 10am n Sunday and Saturday and will get to walk. This is part of the social distancing.

They also removed all rakes from the bunkers and are recommending that no one touches the flag(staying in for all putts). Most of the clubhouse is closed, and I will be bringing my own drinks/food to the club.

WHOLLY MY OPINION, I HAVE BECAUSE I HAVE THREE FRIENDS THAT WORK FOR THE CDC (1 VIROLOGIST, AND 2 INFECTIOUS DISEASE SPECIALISTS, WHO WORK WITH A BUNCH OF EPIDEMIOLOGISTS) I am basing my opinion upon facts from people who are QUALIFIED about the issue, not on the left liberal or right wing media and what they are saying. I am not going to convince the people who think the world is gonna end nor am I gonna convince the people who think this is a bunch of crap.

So as a relatively healthy 44 year old, my worry has very little to do with myself. I have had pneumonia, it sucks, but I am not immuno compromised.

However, I know many people going through radiation, chemo, people with weak lungs(two off the top of my head that had horrible bouts with asthma as a kid) and they are who I worry about. The issue is I can get it, and not know for 5-10 days and you will spread it in 5-10 days. So If my company wasn't working from home and someone picked it up, then my corporate campus could be easily infected (7,000 people) by that person within the amount of days it could be spread without showing symptoms. One of the people infected may have a family member going through cancer treatment, is immuno compromised, or has weak lungs and because we weren't being cautious that person could have inadvertently caused someone a major health problem that could include them dying.

Am I being over cautious? Yeah, maybe so, this is NOT THE FLU, this is not H1N1, this is not any of the other things that people are equating it to, and I am heading the warnings from medical professionals who actually are qualified to speak about this

The point of social distancing, and all the other precautions we are being asked to take, are to prevent exponential growth of the infected population, which could turn 100 into 10,000 very quickly. It's not "living in fear" to do the rational thing in order to save lives and prevent suffering. So no, unless we are comfortable endangering others, we cannot just "get on with our lives."

What has happened so far is NOT a good representation of what might be coming - probably stated more accurately as "what is probably coming". The hospital situation in Italy is a different representation of what MIGHT happen. Hopefully the US and world in general has a different attitude than what you expressed..

As of yesterday one of my clubs have no change -- we rode double in the power cart , my other club just stopped all power carts -- walking only which is significant because it is very very hilly.. it will be interesting to watch if they can stay open because not a lot of members can walk it.

Start using an App to track your score. Don't use the Cart Pencil, Cart Scorecard either. You don't know if the person who used the cart before you and I'm pretty sure the Pencil isn't sanitized when the cart is being cleaned.

Remember to clean your phone, range finder and anything you leave out in the cart during the round. It's all the small things that people forget that can cause sickness in general. The Coronavirus just amplified how "unclean" a lot of people are in general as well....like the people that use the RR and don't wash their hands...........
