My home club, Orange Tree is still open, but only open to members. They have shut down the restaurant except for pre-made sandwiches.

 

Duran GC is still open, don't know about the restaurant though.

All courses on Cape Cod have closed. We had been playing all winter (no snow).

All Club Corp courses, to my knowledge, are now cups out on the greens. Really stupid.

Seems like most courses around the Boston area, and the suburbs, are open with only a few closings I've heard of. Most have adopted the 'new norm' of walking only, don't touch anything, and keep your distance though. Not sure what the future holds though as it seems to more restrictive every day unfortunately. Scary situation and no one seems to have a grasp on what to do either or how long this whole thing will last. Let's all hope it ends very soon. Stay safe.

Got email today that one local course is going to upside down cups on the practice green and no touching of the little stubby flag sticks allowed. Also upside down cups on the regular greens, play it hit the stick.

 

Upside, we might all become better putters and anybody who was still pulling the flagstick to putt will have to stop.

Speaking of, no rakes. I had forgot about that tidbit. I also think that is an ok move. Just smooth it with your foot best as you can. This really could be a turning point for a more minimalist style of golf to be played.

Which, let's be honest, would be excellent for the game in so many ways. I have no problem with any of this. If we could go back to requiring a medical cert to ride in a cart that would also be great (note, I know it isn't happening because of money) and just have clubs place a kid with a cart between holes that have an unacceptable walk for pace. There's a couple of places that used to do that around here.

Tobacco Road does it with their "sandy waste areas" (and I am sure other places as well). I got no problem with it and found the conditions quite playable when I found myself in them.

 

The only issues I really see with it are if you get in a bunker from the high lip side you may screw up the sand pulled up on the face and not have a rake to pull it back up there where it is supposed to be.

My home course in Fort Collins, CO is now closed. The course is a city owned municipal course, one of two 18 hole courses and one 9 hole course. It appears that the city has closed all three courses as of a couple of days ago. There was some activity yesterday (saw a maintenance cart driving around briefly). I suspect the pins and tee markers were picked up due to the closure. I may take a "walk" out on the course in a few days after the frickin snow melts (yes, it is snowing today).

Our club is open for golf only. All other services shut down. Clubhouse is open for locker and rest room access. I didn't notice if rakes where taken away (never landed in a bunker yesterday). Our group always leaves the flag in so no change there. One thing I did notice was the balls were taken in from the practice green and short game area to be cleaned. I always practice with my normal ball so no impact. Driving range still had the little bucket of balls at each box but they seemed wetter than normal so probably more efforts for cleanliness. All members were sent an email of methods and procedures to follow during this issue.

Edit: Just got an email from my club saying all rakes removed, cups upside down (no touching of flag), ball caddies on practice positions left on their side so we aren't to touch balls. Sand mix bottles removed - grounds crew will handle fixing divots. Also recommendations as to touch as little as possible.

Most golf courses are closed in the Bay Area. Chardonnay is remaining open but no rakes or carts. Tee times are prepaid as well so you have very little interaction with the staff.

They closed all the courses in nj starting today but several courses have said they are seeking further clarification from the state to see if they can reopen.

 

Pennsylvania closed the liquor stores so the PA people flocked to NJ where our liquor stores are deemed essential business and are still open.

Due to the CA Governors recent Order, most courses have shut-down with the remaining that are open, to close. I suspect some of them are trying to get the last dollar before they are forced to close the doors, indefinitely. That being the case practice is more important now but where?

Buy a good quality chipping net that can be used outside in backyard or inside. The one I bought came with a nice green swatch and I been having fun hitting back and forth down the hall from in my office to the far bedroom and back, net is sturdy but easy to move. I use LW, SW, PW with 10 ProVs, that's how I stay reminded of the game I love. ?
