The county/city golf courses are closed, but the private ones are open. Played yesterday, just walked nine. I need some time on the course to clear my head and enjoy being out of the house.

All the courses here are open. Even if they were closed, the little 9 holes are easily walk on and go, which they let us as long as the greens aren't frozen or closed for a storm.

This wouldn’t fit in your other thread on courses closing? Don’t need to add to the mess.

My club in PA (near MD border) closed. Meanwhile MD public courses still open with carts :-/

Initially I was very upset with my club. I think walking only would suffice. Now I am more upset with courses still open. This is serious. It’s not worth the risk. Close all non-essential businesses. Now.

Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena, CA will only allow one player in a cart. They expect common sense from players to keep a 6ft distance from each other. That's the only course I know who's doing anything in SOCAL.

More info from St. Louis. Attitude seems to be what @dono heard: "Golf is not a close proximity sport. Homepage - Metropolitan Amateur Golf Associationsent everyone an e-mail on March 17. The gist of it was that events would go on as planned, unless we hear otherwise. An excerpt:"... While MAGA competitions do not begin until April 27, our plan is to continue with all competitions as scheduled at this time. This includes all MAGA Championships, USGA qualifying rounds and our Amateur Series of events.  MAGA advises eliminating handshakes, wash hands and urges clubs to use disinfecting wipes to clean the surfaces of frequent contact points. If you are showing any signs of the Coronavirus, MAGA asks you to please withdraw from MAGA events you are registered, and you will receive a full refund of your registration fee."
By chance I had March 17 meetings at two golf venues related to scramble planning. The private club had a handful of players on the course (a rainy Tuesday), and appeared to have its kitchen open. The public course had a fair draw of players, but the food service was closed (except for granola bars and bottled drinks at the turn).
My scramble group will continue planning for June, unless the sponsors balk at supporting us.Overall St. Louis region situation
The commissioners in our 5-county area - two in Illinois and three in Missouri - had a press conference last evening in which they outlined Covid-19 countermeasures. Restaurants will be carry-out only - no dine-in - and bars and several other venues will be closed. General rules: no gatherings of more than 50 people, and try to have open spaces between people in public settings.
The Illinois governor has closed all Universities and common schools (K-12), along with bars and dining in at restaurants. St. Louis area had similar University and school closings, but the Missouri governor is leaving it up to rural superintendents whether to close schools or not.
Many organizations are having people work from home. Child day-care operations are facing challenges.
Illinois has 160 cases of Covid-19 (mostly around Chicago) and Missouri has 15 cases.

The governor in Michigan just ruled yesterday that courses can stay open but no inside food or beverage. Only walk-up food or beverage is allowed. This is great news for those of us in the Great Lakes State. This will help relieve some of the stress from these difficult times and allow me to stay sane. Feel free to plan your golf trips this year to Michigan and experience our incredible golf courses. Governor rules golf courses can remain open for play despite coronavirus shutdowns

South suburbs of Chicago. Played a round on Tuesday. Been raining ever since, so have not even looked. I know the courses that close for the winter usually open April 1. We will have to wait and see then.

Our course is open (walking only), but clubhouse is completely closed, no food, locker rooms, pro shop, bathrooms, etc. Basically, everything is closed but the course is open to play, at least for now. Seems reasonable enough to me, and I was hundreds of yards from the nearest person playing last weekend so no huge concern there. Rakes were not out yet (still very much coming out of winter here in Chicago), and I'm sure it will stay that way. Hoping the weather is good enough to play this weekend.

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open. GolfWRX was on-site Tuesday to catch a glimpse into the bags of some of the world’s top golfers.

The field of 144 is getting ready to battle starting Thursday for the $7.7 million purse, with $1.386 million going to the winner. The tournament is also the last event where players can qualify for The Masters, just like Canadian Corey Conners did last year.
