Anyone watching LPGA reruns?

I'm enjoying watching older tournaments being broadcast on Golf channel these past few days. Lydia has really changed. Interesting to see the now and then. With the now not necessarily being better.

I can tell the difference in swing style in Lydia and a few others.

Anyone else watching and notice changes in the players?

Clearly her body shape has changed. Her backswing and plane are also quite different.

Camera angle could be deceiving, but based on some recent swing videos her path looks more out to in again. It would be interesting to see her ball flight right now and whether it is straight or a cut vs trying to turn it over.

Ko really ruined her game. So was so good back then. Just such a natural player. If she didn't go and screw up her game, I believe we would have been talking about one of the best ever on the LPGA. Now she is just another average joe.

Always love watching the LPGA, as their game is much closer to mine. Wished they had more events and everyone above is right about Ko. She has definitely changed ( probably maturation ) her body and swing is totally different.

Hope she gets it all back and from what I've read she may have the same parent issues as Wie.

I enjoy the LPGA, usually nice smooth swings that get the ball out there...Ko? She's pretty skinny nowdays, might hurt her distance a little.

Agreed. I find it incredibly hard to imagine there's a legitimate reverse correlation between distance and weight loss. If that was truly the case, the entire LPGA would train to look like classic Christie Kerr in a chase for distance.

But I'm definitely enjoying the LPGA re-runs, especially when there were more diverse contenders week-to-week.

Lydia was my favorite player when she was dominating. Sad to her game deteriorate to the middle of the pack. I know it’s superficial but liked when she wore glasses, was a little chubby and had that massive snaggletooth. Individual. Now she’s skinny, lasiked, invisaligned and just an average lpga player. Sad but predictable. Hopefully she doesn’t go fully down the Korean trend of plastic surgery

Watching the encore presentation of the 2019 ANA. They were talking about In Kyung, and put up a graphic showing her 7 wins, the first being in 2008. I found it surprising that 4 of the tournaments she won are no longer around. It'll be interesting to see if there's any fallout from the latest recession. Fingers crossed.

I think a hopeful outcome when we get on the other side of this, would be not losing any event (or many) and only seeing a reduction in purse size to attract/keep sponsors.

Sitting here watching the final round of the 2016 Volvik. Wow, what a difference a few years makes. Brooke was in her first full season, and had a single win under her belt. She'd go on to win her first major two weeks later.

Lydia was still playing Callaway clubs, and looked way different.

Jessica also looked like her old self, pre jaw surgery.

Ariya is on her way to winning her third straight tournament by 5 shots. She'd finish the season with 5 wins, including the WBO. She hasn't been in the hunt for a while.

Belen and Christina Kim are in contention. Been a while there.

Watching this 2014 Lotte Championship and the leaderboard, you can actually see when a generational talent flip occurred.

This COVID-19 beak feels more like a lifetime than a generation.

It'll be interesting to see how this season pans out.

Watching the final round of last season's Lotte. Gawd, what I wouldn't do to be able to drive the ball like Brooke. She's fearless with her driver in her hands. So smooth.

I don't get how she (Brooke) chokes up on all her clubs. I works for her though. I tried feels odd.

Agree. I feel like Spieth or Mickelson on the tee -- being able to find and play my next shot is a success!

Well, keep in mind the driver is 48", so she's effectively making it a 45" or 46" driver by choking down. The extra shaft probably acts as a counterweight.

During the broadcast Karen mentioned that her irons are standard length, and given the fact that she also chokes down on those likely explains why her iron distance is fairly short, or more normal compared to her driver distance.

Lol. Hate to be a stickler for the rules, but a player doesn't get a drop when hitting it OB. She has been known to put a few in the penalty areas, though.

True, very true. But the rules of golf allow you to use any club in your bag to determine the area in which to drop ... so a 48" driver would be the longest club in Brooke's bag as she uses a regular putter and not one like Bernhard Langer.

It's no longer the case that one can use any club. With the latest rule revision the longest club in the bag that's not a putter must be used. 'Not a huge deal, since most players would grab their driver anyway.

Watching the final round of the 2018 Hugel. I got a big laugh when the final group (Moriya, Inbee, Jin Young) was on the 14th green. Inbee had airmailed the green, and wound up shortsided on the 15th teebox. The announcers were knashing their teeth about the difficulty of her shot, and how a bump into the green was probably a better option than a flop shot. Of course Inbee proceeded to open her 58, and flop it to within a foot. Classic.
