Odd Interaction with Acustrike Customer Service

Recommended Posts

Was there really a problem? Air flow causing a slighter mark an inch before the ball is normal right? Is it really that much harder to use metal spikes to secure? It’s not going to hurt your hands any more than hitting off a mat will. Personally I don’t think the acustrike mat is really necessary, since if you are really attentive to it you can know you are hitting it fat. Or just put a piece of paper a few inches before the ball. Notice if you try to put the piece of paper right before, even pros won’t achieve a good strike. Basically if you are casting, just try to hit after the ball. You won’t over do it.

Maybe you’re having trouble stabilizing the mat because your soil isn’t healthy. I recommend a total lawn restoration. You should do a dethatch and core aeration, then level your lawn with a sand/soil mixture. Your soil will be much healthier next year, and since you can’t return the product, you can test it again next year.

I agree with the OP that the product isn't as advertised. I do agree with Acustrike that the product is used and therefore cannot be returned. I do think it was important to let people know the company is a bit odd but I too would have just gone to HomeDepot and got some metal stakes for about $5 and been done with it, personally. Too much hassle to worry about over $5 and maybe 20 minutes of my day. I could have been gone and back with the solution in the time it took to write the first and second emails.

But I also understand the frustration of having something not work as intended, it seems a bit deceptive. On the flip side I can also see that this really isn't the end of the world and not really worth of a social media blast and the people here who are boycotting the product because they might have to spend a couple more dollars to secure it properly are a bit ridiculous. A jumbo bag of tees is $5, cheap metal stakes are about $5, the price is the same to use the product. Heck, you could probably use some old nails you have lying around and it won't cost you anything.

I ended up getting an Accustrike outdoor mat after learning about it on another WRX thread. I too found the mat not as advertised as I had the same issue as the OP. I broke the tees after 3-4 swings and put the mat aside. I gave it another try a few days later but this time I used some metal tent stakes to secure it. This mat does not work and at least from my perspective it is pretty much worthless. So, I reached out to the company asking how to return it and got this:

"If you might give me your phone number I love to call you to find out more of what you mean because we get so many rave reviews and Rave letters from people and how much it helped them to their surprise.

So I'd like to learn a little bit more about what you're experiencing.

Thanks

Mark C Seiver"

Attached to that email was another email from a fellow named Bert McKeehen complaining about his experience. Pretty sure Accstrike didn't intend to send that to me.

I sent him my phone number and a more detailed description of my experience. Radio silence for a couple of days so I email the information again. I then get a form letter notifying me that orders are taking more time due to Covid-19. A few more days and I reach out again and get the same Covid email.

So its obvious he is dodging me and so I'm mailing the mat back tomorrow and reversing the charge on my card. The $59 isn't going to break me, and the end result for Accustrike will be the same - they get their mat back and I get my money back minus my return shipping charges. Sadly they have made a terrible impression on at least a few of us and its a company I would recommend you avoid. Or at least opt for the more sturdy indoor mat as the outdoor one is way to flimsy.

? So he copied and pasted his response from another complaint email or forwarded it to you?!? Wow. I’d never heard of the product before this thread but it seems like an interesting idea.

Whatever people may think of the OP, his intentions, or whether or not this problem could be remedied with some DIY....none of that really matters. What matters is that a company has no dedicated customer service and the owner is clearly completely unqualified to be handling it himself.

With all due respect to people that practice or believe in this kind of thing...here is Mark C. Seiver's other online presence:https://www.secondearthfoundation.com/

Not trying to pass any judgement here, but this could explain why correspondence with him is a bit...unusual. ?

I would like to know if this company actually exists?  I have not recieved any invoices or  emails showing my purchase, delivery dates etc. If anyone knows please reply . Have sent them an email on their website, if it is an actual website as I seriously believe that this company does not exist.

I think it’s a one man operation out of a small office. My advice is to cancel your order ASAP.
