2 man scramble, Early summer, course playing firm, about 85 *, sunny, no breeze. A good ballstriking day. 540 yard par 5. 364 yard baby draw. Measured by Golfshot. Carried near 300. Had 176 to a back right pin, 6 iron landed pin high and ended in the fringe. Only a birdie, but special anyway.

So this year I've been using the golfpad app and since I have started tracking my shots officially my longest is 266, on a downhill hole, hit that yesterday. Hit one 260 today on the same hole. I've driven the green on that hole and Google Earth says it was 287, but I wasn't tracking shots at that time so I'm not counting it.

431 yards on hole 18 of the Plantation Course at Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii. Extreme downhill and downwind because at that time in 2007 my best drives were about 275 on a flat no wind tee shot.

475 yards in a tournament, had a pitch shot into a par 5. Winds were 45-50 mph with gusts to 60 mph. Also hit a 4 iron 330 in the same round haha.

That reminds me of two par 5s on a windy day here. One runs to the south, the other to the north. Heavy south wind, not sure exactly how strong (yay memory). Going south, driver, 3 wood, 5 iron. Four holes later and going to the north, Driver/SW. LOL

Hit a few biggies recently with firm conditions. I hit a 370 last week at home course, dead straight par 5 500 yards left 130 to a back pin so may have been slightly more. No elevation and at sea level but course is fiery after no rain for last month or so and with a nice tail wind, missed the green long with the wedge in of course? Ss is in the 115 area so normally around the 300 total mark.

I hit one on #18 at my home course last week that was 25 yards past any drive I’ve ever hit there, and was 15 yards past the longest drive in my group. I had been tit-for-tatting with two of the guys in my group the entire 18. But it was the weirdest thing. It was the smoothest swing I might have ever taken, and I caught the center of the face. And it was probably the only tee ball I git that day where my “Gankas” training seemed to fully kick in. When the ball was sailing out there, my caddie mumbled something like “Dayum, that one isn’t stopping anytime soon”. The one guy in the group that probably thought he was longer than me didn’t see me tee off...he was pre-occupied with something else. As we walked up to the balls he was like “Man, were you a little angry on that one?”

I don’t know the yardage. It is a hole that has a dogleg and if you fly the inside corner you can make a longish, tough hole a lot easier. I didn’t go after the inside corner though I tend to favor that route if I can hit it. In this case though I just finally caught one flush and with the extra pop Gankas’ boys have been promising me was there. Went up the “outside” of the fairway, but still had a 3/4 PW into a hole where I usually have 6 or 7 iron into.

That was fun, and I might not forget that shot for a while. I hope I can recreate it more often in the future!

394 yards. I absolutely bombed the drive and it just happened to land on a cart path that runs through the fairway. It took a nice bounce and landed just short of the green on a 429 yard par 4. Of course, I chunked my second shot and barely made it into the green. Then, I proceeded to three-putt for a bogey.

The two red marks show the tee box and where I hit the cart path. The blue mark is where the ball came to a stop.

I'm adding a second. Last weekend on a 466 yd uphill double dog leg par 5. Hit my tee shot to 192 yds, so 274 uphill. Hit my 5i on the green and two putted for the bird. Best day driving the golf ball I've ever had. 9 drives over 250 and 8 fairways hit. Thought I had gone to heaven.

Not that anyone cares but me but....

Links at Summerly in Lake Elsinore, CA. Was playing back in around 2006 with a friend and a kid who played HS golf (very good) and his dad. Was probably a good 20-25 mph tailwind, although it wasn't particularly dry so not huge links style run out. The HS kid was outdriving me most of the time. On this par 5 which was about 525 from the back only I caught one so good. I was like that is going miles. He hits a good one too, but no way is he past me. Me and him are way ahead of the others. We are in carts and they hit their second shots and notice he is hanging back 30-40 yards thinking his is the real long one. I pull up to the 2nd longest about 300 off the tee and see it is NOT mine. I pull over to the side and say, "This is you." He acts like he doesn't hear me as if in disbelief. He pulls up and wants to actually pick the ball up for identification.

I crushed it and it is 75 yards past him and almost ran into an unreachable hazard. I pull up to it and see it's mine and was trying to get a yardage not to see what I had left, but how far it flew. The kid was kinda an arrogant jerk and their cart pulled up and his dad said, "nice drive." The kid said squat, like pouting.

376!

364 yards. Slightly downhill with a ton of dew on the grass. there was nothing really remarkable about the swing other than I put everything in the right place.... and it really didn't count.

I walked up about 250 yards and dropped a ball. This was about 18 years ago and I was playing a Vulcan driver. When I finally got up to my ball I had a very accurate way to measure the distance and my mark is very unique.

However I know better than to ever tell the story on a golf course. It's a guaranteed Jinx on the next tee shot.

Longest I ever measured with Google maps was about 310 of carry in Orlando, I was 39 at the time. There may have been a breeze but it wasn't much. I have hit other drives when I was younger that went 340-350 because of the wind or the fairways were hard.

"Shirtsleeve" swing technique:

1. Setup: Elbows bent forearms pressed together against shaft slightly forward of center with "Hogan" "active/flexed" leg tension left foot turned out slightly and the right leg slightly farther to the right - weight mostly on balls of feet butt of left hands sits on the top of the grip with very light grip.

2. Swing - W/o disturbing weight distribution of legs and feet lower hands while doing a forward press "swing trigger" then the left upper arm takes over on the backswing, it needs to go out in front of the body then back in front of the chest as the hands trace down initially then up to over the right shoulder "Torres". The goal is to not disturb the pressure of the feet during the initial takeaway.

Notes:

1. Only swing thought after swing trigger - extend left arm at shirt sleeve when reaching left hand over right shoulder "Shirtsleeve technique".

2. The upper left arm move "Shirtsleeve technique" can be practiced independently without a club, sitting down for instance

3. The correct feet tension can be felt by doing very short hops on the balls of the feet then holding the same feeling of pressure on the front of the feet and then taking three practice swings with the grip very loose in order to not disturb the same pressure on the feet and on the 3rd swing actively do the "Shirtsleeve" move. From there the swing should be done within a matter of seconds to not lose the feel of the legs resisting, this way this is not a learned technique as much as it is a setup technique.
