Took the 0811x Proto out to compare against Gen2 today at the range. They have the Top Tracer technology, of which we can debate the accuracy of at a later date, but I got 5mph jump moving to the Proto, 158 to 163. Used the same shaft in both heads, Atmos Black TS 7x. My Proto head is 3 grams heavier, 199 v 196, which could explain the more efficient transfer of energy.

regardless of how it happened, 5mph caught me by surprise.

How was it in terms of dispersion/forgiveness from the gen 2 head?

Dispersion seemed tighter and forgiveness was the same if not better.

my launch seemed a little higher with Proto than the gen2 but without track man that’s just a guess. Curious to see how spin compares as well

I can give a quick review...proto vs gen 2 ...both the x models. The gen 2 I played neutral with heavy weights foward 10 5 deg loft. Hzrdus yellow hand crafted...proto x...9 deg ..smoke yellow heavy weight back. I was worried sbout launch and spin. I would say the proto launches higher then the the gen 2. My window was about the same even though stated loft was 1.5 deg lower . Feel was better with the proto. It feels great..soft but solid. Spin with the weight back was 400 less then the gen 2 at the same launch angle. I think it would be really low spinning with the heavy weight up front. I really like it..many of the guys on here will need a lower loft or will have to open it up.

Well I figured there might be some delays. PXG is having a great April and May with their discounts and sales are up. Plus they have a smaller crew working and building these clubs. Just hoping my Proto X gets here before Memorial Day. I think it will be later but I’m hanging onto hope it’s sooner.

I doubt PXG will have an 8*.....but have you looked at KRANK? They have a 7.5* legal driver!!

Just open 9 and make it 7.5 if needed...

Unfortunately, to keep that 7.5* via the adapter that will open the face angle or change lie, which is not the same as a square 7.5*.

But might work if one has draw/hook problems.

Drivers are all governed by the same rules so most are just about the same in the terms of limits. Properly fitted or a specific driver just fits people’s swing. The PXG Gen 2 and this Proto both look really nice looking down at it.

The 3 deg flat setting is awesome....might not make me longer but the driver is really nice looking and feels wonderful

I did a fitting today outside.

I have a good relationship with the top PXG fitter in my area. I tried both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 drivers previously and they couldn’t knock my gamer at the time out of my bag.

That changed today.

I am a high spin player and that has made it tough for me to find a driver that isn’t too spinny. My current Sim Max with a real Ventus 65 is pretty good. We tried the Proto X and l liked it a lot. It feels solid and we were able to find a better solution almost right away with the heavy weight in front, right behind the face.

I thought both overall forgiveness and results on less-than-pure strikes were really, really good.

I knew after about 10 minutes that I was going to order a driver and I’m now looking forward to it getting here.

Looks like the build times are speeding up. I ordered my Proto on Wednesday the 13th and was told 7-10 days. I checked the build link for my order when I got it and was scared when I saw that they were going to "Start Building" May 28th. Then a few days later it said June 12th. I called and they said the Proto and Gen 3's were not following those time frames and to ignore it. Checking today it now says final inspection so should be shipped soon.

I had a Gen 2 but wasn't too happy with the results. It was too low of a ball flight and relied on getting huge roll out for the distance. I did however love the look, sound, feel, and accuracy. But just lost too much distance to keep it in the bag. Went to a Ping G410 LST and was relatively happy. But couldn't pass up the Proto option. If it gets closer in the distance and keeps the benefits I liked about Gen 2 I'm all for it. Can't wait to get the driver and take it to the range! Had to guess on the shaft and hope to get it fit once they open up fittings here.

Not for me, I ordered a 58 Romeo wedge on the April 25th and says build start date is 25 May. I’m getting close to canceling and getting an Bettinardi instead.

I'm glad I saw this message. I ordered mine on May 11th, and I received pretty much the exact same timeline you listed on both the initial and 2nd check in. So I was discouraged by prepared to wait until June 12. After reading your message, I went and checked again, mine is in assembly, so somehow you got a step ahead of me :) maybe it was a result of your call, but no worries, I'm pleased it's ahead of the June 12 estimate.

Apparently they don’t care about any orders but the Proto’s. Screwing everyone else whether it’s a wedges, 0211s or any Gen 2 items. Seems all the proto drivers are being built and everything else is being pushed back. There’s another thread about PXG wait times and this seems the case. I’m glad people are getting their drivers because they are great looking and hopefully they hit bombs with them but very frustrating. I called last week and they told me they are building orders by when they are received. Seems not to be the case ?
