Anyone still using Ping Eye2 Berylliums?

Yes! Ping reshafted the irons last year and they are better than ever. Had to put the J’s driver and Flex Twist Titanium 3w in to complete the set. Also have modern woods that I’ll likely mix in as well.

My set of BeCu's arrived on Monday evening, spent Tuesday scrubbing and then into a bucket of Coca Cola!

Very interesting set this, full set from 1 thro L, matching serials on all of them, and engraved with "Dale McDermid" on the hosel.  Now waiting for a reply from Ping on the history.  It does seem like a Japanese set according to the serial, but we'll wait and see.

Cheers from a beautiful sunny Cape Town!

I always like Pings Beryllium irons.  They played like forged heads.  Too bad Ping quit making them.  They got a lot of environmental pressure.

I got my first ever set of ping clubs (Ping Eye 2 stainless steel) this May 2022 after mainly playing blades and forged offerings from Ben Hogan. I never liked the huge offset and thought they looked ugly in general.

Anyway, picked up a very cheap set and stuck them in my minimalist Sunday bag and fell in love with them instantly.....so easy to play that I ended up putting the full set in my gaming bag, replacing the Hogan's.

Just this week I was in my local golf store and there was a set of Ping Eye 2+ Becu 3-SW that had just been traded in and weren't priced up yet.

I asked how much they wanted and the guy just shrugged his shoulders and said £80.

I couldn't get my card out quick enough.

Only played 9 holes but seemed to get on well them.

Question for other Becu users....I don't find them any softer than the regular stainless steel eye 2 but almost every comment I have read regarding this seems to point at the Becu's feeling softer. If anything, I find them a little harsher but not in a bad way.

Apologies that the picture isn't the best.IMG20220705193955.jpg.492eaa863887903c39fef1dd96e7741f.jpg

I know, I couldn't believe it. I paid £65 for the SS Eye 2 with rifle shafts and brand new align grips then only £80 for the Becu's.

I looked at the shops website a few days ago and they had stainless steel eye 2s listed for more than what I paid for the Becu's.

I think the shop worker made a big error but I'm not complaining.

Man, what shop is that? They have some serious bargains. Here in the US you can’t find a good set of SS Eye2 irons for under $150 and at least $350 for BeCu Eye2…..

I picked up a set of Beryllium Ping Eye 2 + for £140 today…

3-SW and they are immaculate, hard to tell how many ball they’ve hit (certainly not many at all)

Looking forward to trying them on the range as I’ve always wanted a set.. I sold my regular Eye 2’s and always regretted it so when I saw these for sale locally it was a no brainer

I wonder how many Ping Eye 2 sets were actually made. There is at least one set in every second hand sporting goods store I have ever been in. ebay is flooded with them.  Impressive how common it is to come across a barely used set. So many out there!

not becu but they are legal for all USGA and RA play.

Kinda cool pat pending early eye2, thinking I will check and get the specifics from ping now that I know u can.

and I'm still adding lead tape to em, boy these guys were light,  kinda recall that Karsten wanted them light so every one could swing for the fences.

Just picked up a nice set on ebay for a great price. They were from Japan, listed as 5/10 condition, and the pictures were not great. Was pleasantly surprised that they were barely used!

3-SW, matching serial #'s, microtaper shafts and not hint of rust. Another bonus- all the hosels are inscribed with 'Pebble Beach Golf Links' in a very cool script. I found a few pics of the same script on other Ping clubs online, but no real explanation. Does anyone know the history of this?

I called Ping and they confirmed this is the full set, made in May 1987. Square grooves, nice.

These have been a bucket list item for a while, can't wait to get them out on course!

They're so good it's unbelievable......and pebble beach signing is just, well... fantastic. By far the coolest looking irons ever created
