Hey guys...

Trying to make a decision on my next putter build...I have always wanted a copper putter, but I want to see some that have some solid patina to see what it will look like down the road. Any links or pictures would be helpful!

Here are my 2 coppers. I'm not a fan of copper usually but in these I like that they are milled from billet copper and not plated and more importantly these are hand made (and not just cnc programmed milled) by 2 very talented custom putter makers.

Did the Byron start out like the Santa Fe? How long did it take to look like that? (both are beauties!)

While they’re not mine, I’ve had a few solid copper and copper plated putters. Based on the patina in those pics, I’d say the Cameron started off with more of a polished finish, and the Byron started with probably a matte finish.

I didnt have the byron from new, but I'd agree with the above that was a duller finish to start with. The Santa Fe is one of the 1996 1/500 coppers and there are loads of pictures of those around from new, very polished. It has turned a deeper orange rather than a duller brown like the byron.

I polished up the back of the byron a little the other day around the stamping. It's easy to bring the shine back if you want it.

Is it best to leave a putter covered or uncovered to develop a patina?

My Byron Dale O head. It is copper plating over carbon steel. Combined with a bell tipped fluted shaft it has an incredibly soft feel. I've never done anything to speed up or alter the patina process. When I first got it it was shiny like a new penny; now it has no glare whatsoever.

I got bored waiting on a custom order so I wound up picking this up locally the other week from another collector. It's my first Piretti, a 1 of 50 prototype. 365gram head made of copper. 10 or 20* toe hang. I was curious about copper after falling in love with my tei3. I can say, I love the initial feel and sound of this copper head but have been putting really good with a carbon steel putter recently so this way have to sit on the sidelines for a while.

This is easily the best looking putter I've ever seen, especially with that little shine spot in the cavity. What does the face look like?

Are any of these not copper-plated?

 

Have an ‘04 Newport 2 Stainless Steel that I’m looking at doing a DIY Brushed copper finish on the steel, not plating it or anything. Don’t know how that will turn out or it’s effects long term
