How do you like the D7 Forged? I have that set sitting in my cart that I'm just hesitant to pull the trigger on to replace my Cobra F8 One Lengths...

All my closest 10-15 handi friends play older game improvement heads and graphite "R" shafts, no distance irons. The 11-14 handicap wives play game improvement and graphite shafts. My 12-13 handi wife plays Titleist AP2 with senior flex graphite shafts.

I got G410 irons...I went with graphite and I used feel more comfortable...G410 has great forgiveness and I like how the head is a bit smaller, I plays before with the Titleist T300 with steel but I prefer the Ping...I even hit a little farther with the Ping.

I gravitate toward the "players game improvement iron"... it's the Swiss army knife of golf club categories that almost anyone can use.

Srixon z585 5-AW with Project X LZ 6.0. These are like Goldilocks for me. Look great, feel great, so so forgiving and long. I did have to get the loft and lies checked and adjusted (Most of the set was off from the Srixon specs) and bent the AW to 48 degrees, I think the gap between the PW and AW was too much. The only ding is that my spin numbers are a bit lower than I’d like but launch and descent angles are great. I only feel the pain on really firm greens.

I’ve been as low as a 9 going way back to 2012, but after a left knee replacement and left arm rotator cuff surgery, over the past few years I’ve really struggled to keep my HC at or around a 15. I’m 62. Anyway, nowadays I’m playing a great feeling set of Bridgestone Tour B X-CBP 5-PW with Black KBS $-Taper 110 Regular Flex. Recently re-gripped with the new Golf Pride Tour Velvet +4 standard size grips..love em. Also, I’m coming off of a set of (hard to replace) TM R7 TP irons, 4-PW with Project X 5.5 shafts. Oldies but goodies!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to hit them on proper ground since we still have snow up here, so can't really comment yet on turf interaction. Went down to one of our bigger towns in the country to see a concert and while i was there i decided to get the fitting for the summer. I have had a session inside though since I got em and coming from a set of D300 they feel great. Hitting the middle feels like butter and you can easily feel misshits (Think this will be a big thing to help me improve, everything felt exactly the same with the D300s so hard to know where you misshit it) without getting any hand ache. In the fitting it stood between the D7 Forged and the Mizuno 919 Forged, got better numbers and more forgiveness from the D7 Forged so went with them.

Are you referring to steel fiber shafts and which one ie i95 stiff or reg? Specifically which MMT shaft is in your 0211 and any comparisons appreciated during this "shut down". Getting antsy and never thought about PXG but was thinking going to i95 Steelfiber in reg for my Apex 19 but for the cost of reshafting might as well sell mine and buy or trade. Anyway as you know the MMT don't carry the upcharge the SF do but I have never hit them but have the SF. Thanks in advance for any info.

The Aerotech I had in my CF16 were i70. I still have those clubs as my "second set", but really prefer the MMT over the SF. My SS is about 80-85 and to be honest the i95 were just to stiff for me even at regular. The MMT shafts really are very smooth and with the steel mesh at the tip, you'll get a fairly responsive shot. Comparing the PXG to the CF16, when hit, the PXG is the best feeling cast club I ever hit. The PXG and the CF16 has virtually identical specs as far as lofts and have less offset also. The top line is thinner than the CF16, however the blade is almost 1/4" longer. If you live close to one of their fitting centers they offer free fitting (I don't live close to one), but I had no issue in talking to them and getting it right. The only issue for you is either going with the R or S flex, and you'll have to decide that based on your SS. Again, I had NO problems going with the regular MMT coming from i70 Aerotech. If I missed anything let me know.

I am right around a 10. Vary between 9-13 typically depending on how much I play. Have played PING G15 for most of the last 8-9 seasons. Tried about 20-25 iron sets (When I say try- used them on course for multiple rounds) over that time and nothing could knock them out of the bag. However, put the Cleveland UHX in late last season and they are in the bag (still have the PINGS just in case). They look really good and feel good as well. Solid all around for me.

My primary set is Callaway Apex CF19's and they are solid performers. Shafts are UST Recoils F2's.

However, what I'm most excited about is my new backup set of irons. I picked up a set of Honma XP-1 irons with their regular Vizard shafts. I've only played 3 rounds with them, but I am finding to be just as long as the Apex, much nicer feel (very soft, yet good feedback), and they have helped eliminate a recurring pull. I've hit more GIR's in the last 3 rounds than my previous 10 rounds with the CF19's. Still not sure which one will remain in the bag, but I think Honma is making some very underrated golf clubs.

11-12 handicap here - playing Cobra Forged Tecs (2016) 4-P with the Recoil F3 760 ES regular graphite shafts which I love. I have some prosthetics in my left elbow and these are a perfect combo for me - light and no vibrations. Just picked up a set of F8's 5-P with the Recoil F4 Smacwrap 780 stiff, which are slightly heavier, but just as soft. Hit them both pretty much the same distances, but the F8's are a little more forgiving off-center (at least on the mats). I've got an F9 OneLength 4 iron, with the Fujikura Atmos 6 stiff shafts to try to complement the F8 set, but the 5 iron goes about 190-195 yds on the GCQuad, and this 4 iron about 200, so not sure about it. Will keep two sets, as depending on the weather here I'll pick one - if it's colder, go with the Forged Tecs, and warmer take out the F8's - our season can be as warm as 25C or as cold as 8C, with the average around 12-15C where I live.

Currently 716 AP2s but also have an "away set" of G410s the are longer and more forgiving but leave a lot to be desired on feel. Was disappointed with the new T100 and T200 but with the advent of the T100S I will compare again against MP-20HMB and P790 as a potential upgraded set to my AP2s to see if I gain anything at all.

If I don't buy a new set of irons every four years I feel like I'm punishing myself! LOL Like the forged feel but don't feel Ping has a really nice feeling players distance iron yet. Maybe i500 if they can dampen cavity sound more next year. I need to spend some real quality time checking out each club. The HMB looks great and probably feels great but I don't know forgiveness dispersion yet and with weaker loft than P790 and Ping (retro / power spec), distance may not be much over my current AP2. from 2016. May wait one more year and just play by G410s when I feel course conditions start getting too wet for my swing and I need some extra yards playing in my senior league. LOL

Approx 11 hdcp, playing 716 AP2's. I guess they could be classified as a players iron, but I think there is enough forgiveness to border on game improvement. My short game is why my hdcp isn't lower.
