WOW, Times Have Changed.....

I’m not sayin that Tom ain’t a great guy, however this is the club that told Jack, a holder of 6 Majors at the time of his membership inquiry, “don’t call us, we’ll call you,” and yea, they eventually did invite the Big Guy to join their ranks, however their exclusivity and borderline haughtiness makes Augusta pale by comparison, and is on Par with Pine.

https://www.golf.com/news/2020/04/07/tom-brady-joins-exclusive-florida-golf-club/amp/

Their membership roster is a who’s who of the uber elite, their annual Pro/Member the stuff of legends, with Tour superstars from all over the world tripping all over themselves to get an invite by a member who may not even know em personally their first time together, and this was where Ben Hogan used to practice for 30 consecutive days every spring to prepare for the Masters and was quoted more than once, “If I were a young man going on the pro tour, I’d try to make arrangements to get on Seminole. If you can play Seminole, you can play any course in the world.”

I’m just stunned because usually your more exclusive clubs like Pine, Seminole & Augusta shy away from one, the type of press, media coverage and spotlights that follow the typical Pro athlete around, and with Brady, well, they don’t come much bigger nor the coverage and spotlights much brighter, and he hasn’t even Played a down yet, lol.

Secondly, just as they are uber choosy in who they extend a membership invitation to, so too are they uber choosy on who the members bring to the club as their guests.

I realize that Tom and his gorgeous wife dress up well and that he knows how to Play ball off of the field, however, well, I just hope that he has a lot of non-teammates and non-football Playin guests that Play the game?

Stay Well My Friends?

Hey Leo, I hope all’s well?

Actually, ya don’t have to go back to 1967 as in early 2004, Dolphins HC Dave Wannstedt, much like Jack had done some 30+ years earlier, had inquired at Seminole about joining, and much like Seminole responded to Jack some 30+ years before, they told Dave thanks for the interest however “membership is not open at this time.”

This is the oldest bullsh*t line in a private club’s bevy of rejection excuses goin back to the beginning of time, or at least the first time a club said “thanks, no thanks,” lol

That may have been a blessing in disguise as Dave and the dolphins would start the season 1-8, and he resigned during the bye week, although he had more time to work on his game, lol

You’re right though, in that regardless of the exclusivity of the club, it still runs on the green stuff that every other club does, and a lot of it.

Have a Great Season My Friend??‍♂️

Their application was "temporarily held up" when the club's committee required "additional information" about a guy Giselle once dated before Tom. Apparently "this guy" drove a van with smoked out windows. The committee's chair, E. Fritz Roberts III, contended that "most reasonable parental figures" do not allow their daughter to "date" a guy with a van. It was resolved when proof was submitted that "this guy" was a "friend of the family."

I would rather be a member and Jordan's club. The Grove XXIII.

You can you keep your stuffy, up tight, racist, bigoted, elitist, everything wrong with the game of golf club.

I dont want to mention names but there was a famous rumor here for many years that a well known Montreal born NHL player was denied access to one of our most prestigious clubs, just because he was famous. I got the impression like it was almost a badge of honor for the club to reject him based on how people told the story (i am pretty sure it's accurate based on how many times i've heard it)

I never understood that stuff. If he is joining for the right reasons, let him join. It's not like reporters follow them in there. If a club is full and isn't making exceptions for a famous person....i understand in that case. But it seems more often than not rejecting famous people almost seems like a way to say "we're still better than you" or something like that, which is kind of weird .

Irony is, this hockey player ended up joining my friend's club , and my friend ended up playing with him several times and developing somewhat of a friendly golf acquaintance type thing with him. And apparently he was one of the most down to earth guys you could meet. Just loved golf....

Haha. I am much more district 12 than capitol. I have trouble getting onto the local semi private. Much less something as exclusive as Seminole.

I’d have to agree as I’ve Played with a number of Pens/former Pens and they were great guys and as ya said, very down to earth.

Mark Recchi and I were Partners in the Member/Member for my last 6 years in the game and won it 4 of those 6 and the last 2.

I really liked Mark!!!!! Super Guy??

And he could stick too, and for a smaller guy, he could take it deep!!

Thanks for responding CB?

I hope that ya have a great season when this show gets started sooner rather than later!!

Not that this matters but Jordan’s costs more FYI I haven’t played Jordan’s place but I toured the property multiple times as it was being built. And does essentially the same process for selecting members, by invitation only. You can’t just join The Grove (yet maybe down the road), you get to join The Grove. Kinda clever how they did it, to say they had 100 percent acceptance of membership they sent out preinvitations, basically check yes to signal you’ll join and you’ll receive an invite. I heard the initiation is in the 250k range.

Obviously I’m biased, I’d join both if I was offered memberships. But clubs by definition aren’t open to anyone. While I understand that all are entitled to their opinions as to what goes on at private clubs or how things work behind closed doors. In all my time at Seminole I have never seen or felt that it was racist, bigoted, elitist, nor everything wrong with golf. For all the bashing I do of Seminoles golf course, it’s pure golf exactly what people who admire “golden age” architecture it is the antithesis to the modern game I think. The members I have met and know really well, have been extraordinarily welcoming and friendly to me and my family and every staff member. The clubhouse staff, F&B, golf operations, and golf maintenance staff genuinely want you to have the best experience when you’re on property and are some of the finest staff members of any club in the world.

I know MJs place is just as elite. I have zero chance there as well. But if you know about the place you know MJ pretty much requires you do play fast. 18 holes in like 2.5 hours fast. The carts go like 40 mph. And they have drones bring food to your cart. Sounds awesome.

you have to be willing to play big money games every times as well.

Nice! I am not saying that is how I want to play all the time. As a low middle class guy that drives a chevy pickup and is not a member anywhere. Trust me, all if this is way out of my reach... There is a company that runs 5 courses in the area called duncan golf management. I would love to join that club as it give you access to all of them. Plus they have relationships at a few others so you pay a little more than just the cart fee.

I have not even been able to convince my wife that is worth it. haha.
