Three of your Favorite songs from the year you graduated H.S.

Recommended Posts

It was 1986.  There was grade 13 up here back then ... I was 18, heading off to university with multiple fake id’s as I didn’t turn 19 until Xmas and that’s the Ontario drinking age.  It was 18 in Quebec and Manitoba, our neighbouring provinces.

I listened to quite a mix of bands and styles back then, still do. Lots of rock like Springsteen, The Stones and The Who and lots of newer alt stuff like New Order.  The music at parties was all over the place and also rap was just breaking out.  Some Canadian bands like Glass Tiger and Brian Adams were popular.

looking at songs released in ‘86 these 3 were huge in my life

sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel, bizarre love triangle New Order, superman by REM

Thanks Touch for an interesting thread.

I graduated HS in 1981. Growing up in Northern New York along the Canadien border our best radio stations were from Canada. We listened to CHOM 97.7 from Montreal and when I went to college 2 hours west we listened to CHEZ 106 from Ottawa. These are my top 3 choices...

Rush "Limelight"

Jon and Vangelis "The Friends of Mr. Cairo"

Red Rider "Lunatic Fringe"

Have played golf with Tom Cochrane

great guy and excellent golfer, plus his song Life is a Highway, is a wicked anthem, the Rascall Flatts re-do is solid

Ok I'm dropping this one here tonight as my Christmas present to the thread. I am jazzed at the participation it has received and see a few fellow members are indeed enjoying it.

This was released in 78 and I'm class of 79 but still. One of my favorite rock jams from high school. Have been a fan of Cougar ever since.

1976.  The one song from 76 that I loved then and now is Do You Feel Like We Do on Frampton Comes Alive.  Over time I’ve come to really like Somebody To Love by Queen, and Turn The Page, live version from the Live Bullet album by Bob Seger.

But back then my answers would have been by Boston, Aerosmith, AC/DC.

😀

I wore out my vinyl copy of Frampton Comes Alive playing Do You Fell Like We Do!  IMO one of the greatest instrumental solos in 70's rock.

So did I! Mine came with a clear plastic jacket and the vinyl album was a photo of PF in concert on one side and the Union Jack on the other.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

I thought I might give this rather different music themed  thread that I started a bump since most of the other music appreciation threads have been so very well recieved for months on end. It was a few pages deep so I rescued it. I believe it deserves new life.

A few of the songs from the radio and mtv that I liked from the 82-83 school year:

You got lucky babe -  Tom Petty

Sweet Dreams -          Eurythmics

Mr. Roboto-                 Styx

Mostly myself and group of friends listened to pre recorded music that was older but some of the radio stuff wasn't bad.
