Best ball in windy conditions?

'20 TP5X was a great wind ball.  So far I'm less than impressed with the '21 TP5X, it's a little more spinny, can balloon a bit more.

FWIW my club gets fairly windy (5-10 mph on a light day, 20+ mph on a windy day).

 

For me it's been the Bridgestone BX by a mile. It cuts right through the wind and I get pretty minimal distance loss when it's straight into me. I tried both the '19 and '21 ProV1x and the '19 ProV1 and they were fine downwind, but they would balloon like crazy into the wind.

 

Haven't tried either of the Taylormade options as I've never been a fan of their balls.

Left Dash ProV1X seems to hold pretty well on windy days for me!

Interesting, all the negativity on the XV.  For me, that ball is the best in the wind, or whatever wind we have here in Socal.  The Snells are the best bang for the buck IMO, with the MTB-X being one of the longest I have played, wind or not.  There's also technique involved when playing into the win so the everyday swing may not benefit us as much when playing our everyday ball, it alone will not make that much of a difference.

I don't currently use it, but the Bridgestone's have always been the best in the wind in my testing.  Compared like for like....

High Spin Bridgestone BXS is better in the wind than all of the other high spin similar tour balls

Lower spin BX is better in the wind than the lower spinning similar level balls.

 

Caveat. I have not tried the Pro v1 left dash nor the Chrome LS in the wind, their spin characteristics may make them better for quite a few golfers.  I tried them on a calm day and the spin into the greens were not what I wanted for my courses firm greens.

 

As to why I don't use the Bridgestone......well after wrist surgery my handicap ballooned and I was losing too many balls off the tee.  So I stuck with balls I could find on the cheap, Srixon for the price is just too good to pass up and since I don't play for my living I am fine playing a ball that doesn't perform quite as good in the wind.  As my handicap continues to drop and my tee balls get better, I may switch back to the Bridgestone.

The absolute best balls in the wind that I've personally used are any of the Callaway Hex balls.  They are by far the straightest I've played.  I say this with the disclaimer that I've not used anything newer than the initial model of Chrome Soft.

 

Aside from those, my second best choice is the Wilson Staff Duo Professional.  Its one reason I continue to play it, the performance in sidewind is quite lovely.

 

Srixon balls would be next on my list.  

 

Based on the comparisons between my shots and those of my various playing partners, I'm surprised the Titleist balls are getting so much mention.  I'm not particularly accomplished at windplay, and their shots drift quite a bit more in breezes than do mine.  <shrug>

I'm curious.  What do all of these balls that are so good in the wind do when the wind isn't blowing?  Are they PERFECTLY straight then, or are they just "opposites" of other golf balls, and curve when there is no wind but fly straighter when there is wind?

No doubt, that hex pattern is great. 100% surface coverage is an advantage.

3 balls I've tested/gamed that are excellent wind balls are the AVX, MTB-X and Chrome Soft X and LS.  The TP5x and new ProV1x are a notch below.
