Usps delays?

USPS just sucks anymore. I shipped a putter out April 29 and it still says “in transit”.  It left my post office the same day I dropped off and on May 13 it “arrived” in Memphis (4 hrs from me) and since that day it’s been “in transit” to the buyer in the north east. I’ll never use them again after this transaction.

I just got updated by my seller. The USPS closed a package research case stating they couldn't locate the package and suggested he file an insurance claim because they will look harder since they don't want to pay a claim. I let the seller know I was going to file an item not received, which I did and he responded he understands and will refund me if the package doesn't arrive by Monday which is the amount of time ebay gives him to respond to my claim. Kudos to the seller.

I don't understand why anyone rolls the dice and uses USPS.  Seriously I don't get it.  Out of the last 5 packages with usps, 2 of them arrived on time, the other 3 took 2-3 weeks.  That's a big no from me and i'll gladly pay the extra $5 for use FedEx.

Haven’t had a single delayed package the last 5-6 months.

Gotcha.  I wish I could say the same but can't. USPS was a disaster until I stopped using them all together about 3 months ago.  Just curious if it's still happening, thanks for the feedback

I'm still using them some of the time. Seems like they take one or two days longer than they used to for most shipments, which is still pretty good. Tracking still can be pretty spotty on how often it gets updated. For larger/heavier packages, it seems like fedex and UPS are starting to become a significantly cheaper option.

I havent used them myself to ship anything. But I just ordered a pair of pliers from a fly shop in Florida and sure enough, delayed in transit/no updates in a week.

Zero issues the past two months. That's a big change from how things were. So, I have definitely seen an improvement in my area (Northern IL). 

 

On the last two packages I have had come-in, I was actually caught off-guard that my package was ready for pick-up at my PO Box because it got there so fast.

My last BST sale included five packages, all of which arrived at their destination super quickly. I'd be pretty confident using USPS now.

That sucks.  It seems like some people have success and others not so much.

Consider yourself lucky. Not the same by me. In fact my regular carrier at work gives us a running tally each day of how many other carriers called off that day, whose routes he then has to cover that day.

 

Days he's off...never get mail.

 

Outgoing packages are pretty much always on time now, sometimes early sometimes late. But that's only small packages, I'll not ship clubs with them after nightmares last year.

Is what it is, sucks that I've been looking for this particular model for a few months. BTW anyone that thinks golf has expensive trinkets LOL - dont take up fly fishing.

Anyway for me, I've gotten so used to using UPS Ground now, the dropoff locations for me are about the same and UPS Ground is certainly cheaper. Have had no complaints on timing either, IMO it takes about the same amount of time too.

I use ups and usps at work and we have more issues with the usps packages by far. If it wasn't for our corporate office insisting we use usps we would've dropped em a long time ago

Sounds like USPS is still inconsistent.  I've been using FedEx with no issues so looks like i'll be sticking with them.  They are more expensive but I dont have to worry.

Price has gone crazily expensive with USPS and service has gone down. Like increasing the price of the subways, with less service, sad.

Funny enough I grabbed some grips off ebay and they were being sent from a town 3hrs away.  Supposed to arrive today but tracking is in limbo YET AGAIN.  USPS is such a clown show.  Never seen an organization go downhill so quickly.  The Postmaster DeJoy needs to go ASAP.

A couple weeks ago an items ordered was given to the Jacksonville, FL distribution center. This two hours away from me and standard for a next day delivery to Ocala, FL. The item went from Jacksonville to Buford, GA to Nashville, TN to (wait for it) Jacksonville, FL to Ocala FL. Way to cut costs and save us money Louis DeJoy!

Both USPS and FedEx have been my goto shipping for years Rarely have an issue. Last year went through the COVID fiasco w USPS during the holidays (45 day delivery on priority packages) but fortunately my buyers were patient and everything worked out. Not a fan of the new FedEx *adjusted shipping cost shakedown through ebay where they charged me extra after the fact on my prepaid labels (*measurement/weight). All of a sudden a bill on ebay shows up a month or two later.

Agree.  I got hit with the same BS from ebay and fedex. But at least the package gets there.  A low bar to set but it's the best we've got nowadays
