Ventus with Velocore? I think I got a deal!

I ordered a Mavrik 5wood off the Bay last night. Upon closer look, I may have gotten a deal! The Ventus Blue that it has I think is a real deal with Velocore. I have not owned one, so what do you think?

Is that the Velocore wording on the shaft? I would have purchased even if not, but this may be a bonus!

Yeah that certainly looks like the aftermarket version, nice score! It does however appear to be quite heavily tipped, which I suppose isn't unusual for a 5w. The tip to graphic measurement is supposedly 4" from the tip to the "E" at the end of "VeloCore" and based on that photo, I would guess it has been tipped somewhere between 1 3/4" - 2 1/4".

Well, I will hope that tipping is not a problem. I got the thing for $185 (then $14 shipping, and tax, and minus about $9 in eBay bucks). I will have it Monday and hope to play it Tuesday.

What is the tipping look like for your 5 Wood? (Your club is TM, so I know they are different) Does this look close?

I will have to look for sure on the tipping. Mine was not from TM but I have put it in my TM Sim. Think it was a Titleist originally.

I wonder if the shaft broke and he just trimmed it and dumped it. That looks like more the 2+ inches of tipping. If you are or know a good builder, I would have them pull it apart to check it.

That is a crazy good deal. I am typically nervous about deals that crazy good. Especially on Ebay.

I wouldn't worry about the tipping to be honest. I was going to ask but I found the sold listing on eBay and its an R-flex shaft. That combined with the fact that "Blue" profiles like the Ventus Blue are pretty forgiving shafts when it comes to tipping and I wouldn't worry about it at all.

He had a couple of hybrids as well from the Mavrik line, so I think he was just clearing out gear. He had great feedback, so I am not so worried about it. If there is something wrong I will just return. I honestly did not know it was possibly a Ventus at first.

Most guys on tour playing the Ventus blue are tipping it for their driver 1.5-2" for their driver. When i was testing, Fuji tour department recommended i tip my Blue 1.5". Basically it's meant to be tipped a lot more than a normal shaft. For a heavier 5 wood head I would probably tip it 2-2.5"

Ok, sorry for the late update. It was indeed the Ventus with Velocore. Played my first round with it on Friday and the tipping is NOT an issue at all. Smooth feeling shaft for sure! And the Mavrik 5 wood is a BEAST! Man that face it hot! Pretty good score for under $200!

That's pretty interesting to hear. I've got an Accra 475 M5 right now that I'm playing straight in... it generally requires a pretty good pass to load 'er up nicely so I thought of maybe giving a blue 6x a try... but might seem like I'd want to tip it at least .5-1'' then (I'm not quite tour speed average right now, just a few mph shy)
