Light weight water resistant carry bag

For my day to day carry, the rangefinder pocket isn't conducive to my range finder, and the water bottle pocket is very small - it seems to be made for an actual 20 oz bottle of water, although I carry a 32 oz hydro-flask and its definitely not designed for that. The ball pocket is massive though, I generally carry both my water bottle and range finder in it.

Other than that, its fine for Midwest golf, but if I was going on a trip to say Scotland, where I knew I'd be potentially layering/shedding layers, I'd want something bigger. The side pocket really can't hold more than a light jacket unless you are stuffing it in there.

Definitely recommend you try and inspect one in person (or make sure you can return). I am a somewhat larger than normal human (6’3”/240) and my hands won’t fit in the rangefinder pocket or the water bottle pocket far enough to dig something out so they are both effectively unusable. FWIW I do think that bag is pretty daggone water resistant but for me, the tight pockets are a complete non-starter.

P.S. Check out the Ping Hoofer Monsoon and the Sun Mountain H2NO. Both are heavier than other bags in their respective line ups but those are the waterproof bags made what most feel are the top two carry bag makers today.

Played 9 holes today, soggy conditions, perfect for testing my new StaDry. Conditions varied from heavy mist to light rain and windy.
Its water repellent, does a good job of beading water off of it, inside contents were bone dry all day. Once it stopped raining and misting, the bag dried off pretty quickly. The zipper pulls are covered with rubber grommets that lock the zipper ends in place, sealing pockets closed. I did not try the rain hood, as it wasn't pouring.
It took me a few holes to get used to the stand, it takes a bit longer to engage than my old Ogio Vaporlite, so I "missed" a few times. I hastily applied the straps, and I am not sure if they are on right, and they need to be adjusted. I kind of fumbled around a bit until I got used to the straps and wearing the bag, I will spend time before the next round to adjust properly.
Once on the shoulders, the bag is very light and balanced. The straps "self corrected" a few times, leveling off the bag after a few steps, which improved balance. It weighs a full pound less than the old Ogio (4lbs, vs. 5lbs), but carries a ton lighter.
The 5 way top handled 14 clubs easily, thicker grips and all. I do need to organize them a bit better, I'm used to the Ogio's "Woode system".
The pockets were disappointing, as @Jarlaxle and @jmkenn0 forewarned. The two cutout pockets on the exterior are almost useless. I squeezed in a 25 oz water bottle in one pocket, but the other is pretty much a waste. I tried to put my full size range finder in both, didn't fit in either. I'm sure the pockets themselves are big enough, it's just the openings are so tight you can't get anything in them. When you are carrying the bag, the tension from the weight of the bag closes the pocket openings even tighter.
The valuables pocket fit my big Galaxy Note phone, my wallet and keys snugly. A watch might fit in it too, but not much else. The longer storage pocket held the rain hood, a few protein bars, a few gloves (in their packaging) and a 25oz water bottle. I could probably sneak a rain jacket or vest in there too, but not much else. The pocket on the other side was smaller, held my first aid kit, sunblock and two pairs of cased sunglasses. The ball bag was the only pocket that was roomy, held a dozen balls, my range finder. A small webbed pouch is there for tees and stuff, plenty of room there too.
It has a velcro patch to stick your glove to, and a Sharpie sleeve. My towels and plastic wire brush clipped to it easy enough.
For its flaws, its still a decent bag. For $129, it was a no brainer. It's a good looking bag, seems sturdy enough, carries comfortably and keeps everything dry inside. I will get used to the straps, and will find some uses for the outer pockets. My last bag survived 15 or so years of play, lets see how long this one lasts!

I live in Vancouver and play plenty of rounds in the rain. I've had great success with my Sun Mountain 2.5+. It's water resistant (not proof) and super light weight. So far it's going on a year of use and I always carry. Some minor issues with the straps sliding, but I did some home stitching to take care of that.

The other option is the Sun Mountain H2NO Superlight. That is from their dedicated waterproof series. Not cheap, but you get a good bag from a good company.

Second round with the StaDri.

I worked out the issue with the straps, I didn't hook them into the disc that centers the strap. Straps worked much better this time, no tangle, easy to slide on. I still need to level the straps better, the bag isn't hanging evenly.

I jammed the water bottle into the pocket, so that is sorted out.

It's still lighter and comfier to carry than the old Ogio it replaced, I'm getting used to it now too...

Any bag can be sprayed with an aftermarket water repellant. Something that tents or auto fabrics might use should do the trick in increasing the water resistance .
