Is it this summer that Srixon will come out with new irons? Anyone see or hear anything?

The new model would normally have been late summer early fall, but they are being delayed until PGA Show 2021

It does not appear that they are waiting on the driver launch, at least if one were to assume that the USGA conforming list pics are an indication.

They may rethink holding off on the release. No reason to wait. Not even a certainty at this point that the 2021 PGA show will happen. Companies will be looking at all kinds of scenarios the rest of the year.

An iron that is a tweaking of the 745 would be sweet. Still like it more than the 785.

Srixon typically launches in September or October. Multiple people have said they are delayed so that may be the case. If you want new irons get the 785. I doubt the 7xx or whatever is going to be a massive improvement in tech. They have had only incremental changes from the 745-785 with just weight placement and subtle changes in shape. They aren't going to be a foam filled boron-infused, cup-faced monster. That just wouldn't hold true for what they typically release for that style of club. The 585 I could see maybe trend in that direction but the 7 rarely deviates. It's like the i-series from Ping, you kind of know and expect what you are going to get before they are even released.

Very interested to see what they come out with next... I loved the Z785's at demo days but ultimately found a deal on the Z765's I couldn't pass up. I would imagine the new iteration wont stray to far from the past few releases. If the Z785's fit your game, you definitely cannot go wrong. They are my favorite Irons in a long time.

I’ve heard they have in the past when I called up some retailers. It’s hard to be patient to see what they do. Love my 765 irons and might want the newer ones but then I always think since irons are my strength, will my scores go any lower with new irons or more lessons?

the WRX in me just wants to play my 65s until the new version comes out. Here’s to hoping I have the strength to hold off when they drop the price.

And if the next 7xx iron is a foam filled boron-infused, cup-faced monster...count me out!!! LOL I doubt it would be. I may be boring but distance control is kind of important.

That's how I am hoping to play the 5 update. I bought my 565s right after the 585s came out brand new for half the price. I'd grab some 585s with the Modus 105 shafts I really want if I can get them for a similar price that I paid for my 565s.

I’m not sure how they could improve on the 785’s, I’ve got about 10 rounds in with them and get more and more impressed each time I play. The consistency is just impressive. If they do go on sale, I’d pick up another set of them just to have. I just love the simple look, no crazy stuff going on in the cavity or funky colors. They just look like irons that are meant to be played, not be flashy. Love em.

I’d wait before buying. Not because I expect that they’ll deviate much from their previous iterations but it may be just enough to make you re-assess which line up you fit into.

For example, with the 85 series they dumped the blade and moved the 7 series closer to the 9 in terms of playability/forgiveness. They removed the tungsten weighting from the mid and longer irons which I believe makes the 765 more forgiving compared to the 785. It’s just a matter of degrees but still worth the wait. If you feel like the change is not worth the premium price you’ll be able to pick up a set of 85 at a better price

That can be argued depending on how you want to define the x85 series. 585 and 785 were released at the same time. There was no 985 blade. It was some time later that the Z Series blade was released. At least that's how I recall it going down.

That’s exactly how it happened. The Z Forged is a different line with a different release schedule. The 45 and 65 series all had a 9 variation, the 85 did not. Subsequently I believe they tried to make the 785 play more like a 9 series

I may be in the minority, but I thought he 65s were more forgiving than the 45s and seem more solid than the 85s. I could’ve upgraded to the 85s with a major discount but chose to stay with the 65s. Hell I wish I had a backup set of 65s built to my specs. I would hope the new series is more like the 65s or even the 45s than the 85s.

The rounded toe on the 765 really was a step back from the 745 (squat and squarer toe) and something to do with the sole made them capable of the worst fliers I've ever experienced with a golf club. Had no issues with 745 or 785 in that regard. Very odd. Anyways, it's great that you love them (that's the great thing about golf - variety!) but tour usage and MANY pages of reviews on here kind of back of the theory that they were the ugly duckling of the family.

I currently have the 65s. There is no doubt in my mind that they are the ugly ducklings of the 3 lineups. But I suspect that more rounded toe is also what makes them more playable (read forgiving) for me

I’ve never been intrigued with tour usage because I will never play on tour. Let’s agree to disagree about pages of reviews, because I’ve seen many reviews that would contradict what you say regarding the 65s being the ugly duckling of the family. To each his/her own, but not everyone likes a square-toed club.
