Epic trip. There is a restaurant at Erin Hills, but you must play or stay there to use it. There is not much in between Erin Hills and Kohler, but it is only 75 minutes or so. My advice is either eat at Erin before leaving or wait until you get to Kohler to eat. Ton's of great food/restaurants in Kohler/Sheboyan. Try the Horse & Plow at the American Club. It is a very casual bar/restaurant. Save room for dessert! Also, all of the resort courses have restaurants attached, both casual and more upscale. But please make time and try Il Ritrovo or Fay's Pizza if you guys like pizza. Il Ritrovo is Neopolitan style pizza and Fay's is just regular style. But both are superb. If you have a little time in the evening, you can go to the golf shop at Inn on Woodlake. They have a swing studio/golf simulator that you can hit balls or play a bunch of courses in the simulator.

Two recommendations for you:

There’s a cool upstairs bar at the Straits clubhouse. I didn’t even know it was there the first time I visited.

On the opposite end of the spectrum: Big Jimmy’s in Sheboygan. Total dive bar. Nothing nice about it. You’ll probably be the only out of towners in there. Soak up some local culture.

Spotted cow is a good beer, maybe a but overrated. I don't think any New Glarus beer is that great. Old fashioned is the WI drink. It's too sweet for me to drink regularly, but it's a must have if you haven't been here before.

It will probably be between 40 and 100 degrees. Shorts and a jacket should work, but definitely bring pants. It can get cool along the lake with an east wind even if it’s an otherwise warm day. Sheboygan also has weird weather. I remember it being about 55 with some light sprinkles At the straights when it was sunny and near 80 away from the course at the 2004 PGA.

June can be cool, particularly at the Kohler courses which hug a 40-45* lake. But it is unlikely that you have temps below the mid 60's and mid 70's is what to expect. You will avoid the potential heat and humidity of a July/August afternoon. Should be damn near perfect.

Frankly, the Wisconsin beverage wisdom above is largely out-state-bullcrap. It is not too early load up a cooler full of Sheboygan brats, some kraut, cheese curds and head up to Lambeau for a good tailgating spot. Upon arrival a strong Bloody with a beer chaser while the grill heats up and never be without a flask of either schnapps or brandy.

You are welcome.

For good tapped beer selection I like 8th Street Ale Haus (nice bar) and Braveheart Pub (rustic but clean). Excellent beer selection at both, and unlikely to be any duplicates on tap. For a good wood fired pizza Il Ritrovo is very good. If you are looking for the basics for beer just stay at the course (Whistling or Blackwolf)....both are very nice with good views.

For a good taproom....3 sheeps is a good option.

Enjoy!

It's close to the Straits, but I'll shoot out a recommendation for Rupp's in Cleveland. My in-laws live just a few minutes from the Whistling courses and Rupp's is a staple for us. Fantastic cuts of meat at unbelievable prices, with a pretty authentic small town supper club feel to it (including the soup and salad bar included with your steak, and be sure to ask for the mushrooms that are available with the meat!). Would be perfect to hit up after 36 at Whistling on the way back to the American club.
