I'll comprare them with my honma tw737V when I have the kyoei iron shafted. I think tc-101/201 is more like a blade sized iron

OKAY! I can't play more than 1 times every 2-3 weeks (right wrist injury). I have this problem for over 1 years and doctor can't find whats the real problem even after every MRI type possible. So my golf game is not at his best.  Anyway lets get back to the review.

On the size side, Kyoei are a bit bigger overall than my old Honma TW737V. Longer blade size and a bit thicker topline. Sole design is different(in a good way) I really like the turf interaction.

Offset are similar but the kyoei have a bit more.

Specs *Same loft* : Honma were shafted with $-taper S+

                  : Kyoei have C-taper S+

Trajectory : kyoei launch a bit higher and spin a bit more even with a lower spinning/launching shaft I didnt lose any distances.
I get less flyer from the rough maybe since I spin the ball a bit more.

Forgiveness : Kyoei win for the forgiveness and I really need it right now.

Feel : Honma TW737V was the best feeling club I have ever use (and I tried a lot of irons in the last 10 years).
Kyoei are in the same category. I only have one problem, sometimes screws get loosen up and I feel it
when I hit the ball and it sound a bit different so I have to retighten them. I dont know if it could be a problem if I start playing as much as I did before.

*update they stop loosen up after the retighten*

For now, I really like them, the forgiveness, turf interaction, the blade size and of course the look in the bag is WOW.

*ps* I'll try to add photos later to compare and show the kyoei in person.

Sounds like you need to put a little loctite on your screws

Might try going to graphite or composite shafts, pretty much cured my golf related wrist and elbow aches and pains

C Tapers are the worst on joints

I had modus 120tx and  kbs tour $-taper last 6 years. My wrist pain is more serious than a pain caused by shaft vibration. I just had cortisone injection on monday and if that doesnt help next step is surgery. I can't do anything right now play hockey or any other sport.

I would try the loctite trick but I'm waiting for new screw weight to drop the swing weight since i'm playing my club longer.

I don’t doubt it’s a serious injury but I know for a fact in 2014 I was playing C Tapers and by July I couldn’t get a cup out of the cabinet without excruciating pain in my right elbow and wrist both of which have been injured multiple times fairly seriously. Switched to Steelfiber and skipped a couple range sessions and it was all but gone in 2-3 weeks.

I mean the doctor can’t find the problem and you can barely play, and now you’re in C Taper S+ HS which is one one of the stoutest most bone jarring shafts there is, maybe second only to the C Taper X.

I don’t want to come across as telling you what to do with your golf equipment but if I wanted to continue to enjoy the game without horrible pain that doctors can’t diagnose the very first step I’d take is limit my playing (which you already done by necessity) and the second would be minimizing the shock that’s being delivered to the injured portion of my body.

you can be right but I only played 3 times with the c-taper yet and I have this problem since 2+ years. Someone slashed me on my hand/wrist years ago(hockey). First summer after that I was taking 2 advil and a wrist taping I was good to go. the winter after, I tried to hit balls indoor off mats without taping and that's where everything went wrong  ?. I know graphite would help for wrist/hand/elbow pain. I will for sure look toward graphite option for my next irons shaft but for now option are not really good for me and fitter here in Quebec do not have choices for graphite in TX or X(my 6iron is 102mph). I was looking for the mmt 125TX or maybe the texas rebar from LAgolf but they are expensive when you can't try them first. Well I dont know, I think i'm still young(just turn 30) to have problems related to joint pain but I can be wrong.

Thanks for the advice, appreciated!

Thanks for your review!

I actually have a wrist problem as well and believe it or not but after going to 100 different doctors and doing every possible type of exam, I took up running and I actually got a lot better - a doctor explained it has something to do with seratonin levels. Hope this helps.

Now on the golf front, I'm gaming with Honma 747v's with project x lz 5.5 shafts but I feel the heads are too heavy for me. I have a soft spot for JDM clubs and started looking at the Kyoei Dual Weight irons. Are you using any weight screws to increase or decrease head weight? If so, how are they working out besides the constant loosening?

Do you have any comparative pics between the two clubs?

Thanks!!

I played today for the first time since my cortisone injection...18 holes without pain, that feels so good!!! after 2 years.

Yes you can ask for lower weight screw when you order it. I have the 2g weight right now but the guy from tourspec just tell me they gonna have .8g weight since i'm playing my club longer I'll order them(swing weight is at d6 right now). I'll have pictures this weekend my friend is using my old honma club and i'm playing with him on sunday.

I have a set of the dual weighted.  I have them currently shafted with an Aerotech Steel fiber 85.
the feel on these irons takes amazing to a new level.  The steel is so soft.  They are very comparable to Miura which is a duh if you know the story behind the 2 club makers.  But to me the KK are better, they have a superb grind, I can get a solid 10 yards more on the 7-6 iron over the the other 2, which could be argued it’s the shaft.   If you have the means, I would highly recommend.  I also picked up the wedges but I am not getting the distance I need, still working on those.

My pervious sets were KZG blades with KBS steel and then Yonex EZone with Tour AD 75 graphite shafts and another set with KBS steel.  If that helps anyone.
