Gamed my X+ on Wednesday with the weight forward.  Hit my 3 longest drives of the year (according to my Garmin).  I had a big right miss, but all of those shots came with a 15mph headwind moving from L to R.  Feeling like my swing is getting used to small + 12.5 g forward really well and the club is still very forgiving.  I'm sticking with this setting for a while...

I’ve posted before that I’m playing an Accra tz5 and it’s a little too much shaft for me, so I’ve been looking for a hzrdus smoke yellow. Finally bought one this morning and it’s being shipped.  Right after paying for it, went out and hit 7 out of 8 fairways. Absolutely bombed 4 of them. Equipment knows, somehow, it knows. At least I’ll get to do some more tinkering though.

Went to the range and finalized my driver (Proto X) settings. Was hitting the ball much better than when I first got it (I got it used off FB Marketplace), and I had it regripped since then; I hate the stock PXG grips. 

Standard hosel setting, 2.5g in toe and front, 12.5g in back, and 7.5g in heel. I like the extra 2.5g heavier than the stock weights, and the combo of back and heel helps me hit small draws that don’t dive out of the air. 
 

If you weren’t fit for this driver, it’s worth it to get the weight kit to tinker with the settings in my opinion, unless you’re already hitting it well with the stock weights

The set up that's working best for me, combination of distance and forgiveness, is 15 in the rear, 5 up front and 2.5 in the heel and toe.  I have heard some people are having good results with the 5 in the toe.  YMMV.

Just noticed your rolling a Machine...what model?  I’ve had several over the years and still have 2 M10’s.

Just got in a aldila rogue white to try in my proto+. Anyone try this shaft in the proto? Now, if this stupid snow in Oklahoma would hurry up and melt! I really don't know how you all that live up north and northeast US do it in winter! God bless you all!

Yeah solid putters for sure. It’s a 1018 Carbon lightly torched and oil quenched M2A Raw with a cool center over shaft hosel. I alternate based on green speed between this and my newly acquired SpiderX CS. Here are some pics

Unless you are shorter than 45'' or using a counter balanced shaft, the head will get pretty heavy with the 20 gram.

My head weighs 198g with stock weights and no adapter, hoping the extra 5g gets me where I need it.

That’s just a touch lighter than my 2 heads. If you are at 45” probably around D5.

Yeah I am pretty sure heavier vs lighter for me is gonna be better. I have a 5, 7.5, 17.5 and 20 coming to tinker with.

Not if it works for you. Don’t get hung up on swing weight. People get laser focused on swing weight for some reason on this forum.

Haha - THANK YOU!  I had typed out a reply and said F it - this is GolfWRX where most people have 190mph swing speeds and use TourStiff shafts 🙂  It is all about what works for YOU and nothing else matters.

Exactly this. Swing weight is a only a “guide” to get you a ticket to the ball park. Launch monitor, range, and playing holes on a course are what give you the story of where to take the weighting of your big stick or any stick for that matter. 
 

Another point is my builders swing weight scale is always 1.5 points lower in measurement than my swing weight scale for comparison with driver and about 1 point lower on hybrids and irons. So even from scale to scale brand and model, we will all see a variance. The point is the actual swing weight is just a data point to get you something in the realm of where you can then dial in for optimum performance. My best friend plays his driver at D7 on my scale and it feels like a sledge hammer to me. For him he flushes it as it fits his tempo and swing speed. I play mine anywhere between D2-D4 on my scale for over a decade and the results have always been positive.
 

With these drivers we have so much control over swing weight through the weight ports, which is awesome. I wouldn’t sweat it at D1 but if you want to play and test it, why not try to add 2.5 grams to get it to D2 and then 5 grams added to D3 and move the weights around and see effects. I like 10-12 ball clips in any setting change to see the worst and the best that set up has to offer and before any other changes and proceed.

I tried it before my other weights came in. Honestly wasn’t bad feeling at all and flight wise adding back the pulled 2.5 grams from the heal to the toe on the head was pretty nice for me. It did raise the pitch or sound of the driver so when my other weight options arrived decided to keep all of them filled. Also one of the ports maybe toe or heal (can’t remember) has a hotmelt port or “hole” and if that one is left open a risk of debris entering the head would be my only concern. Other than that it’s AoK.
