Anyone Ever Come Across A Real-Life Billy Baroo?

Among other moments, we always remember Judge Smails sinking a crucial putt with the legendary Billy Baroo.

By that I mean a golfer with a second putter in his bag used specifically for that one crucial putt that must be made. I met a few golfers with a second putter for a particular length, but never have I met a golfer who had a second putter exclusively for that once-in-a-very-long-time putt that must be made, make or break, do or die, you name it. Anyone? If so, tell us the story of Billy Baroo and the outcome of the game as a result.

I played a guy years ago who occasionally used an old Otey Crisman with a hickory shaft. He was a really good putter with everything, and changed up just for the sake of changing.

I actually have a Otey Crisman blade putter with a hickory shaft and a Neuman leather grip. You can tell someone put that grip on because the wood under the Neuman is discolored. No joke I found that thing in one of the scrap bins at work. It is in immaculate shape. I have putted with it some.Let me clear one thing up the Neuman is shorter than the original wrap grips on these putters so you can see the discoloration where the original grip was. with it being in such good shape I figure most of it's life it was a decoration or wall hanging

Neumann was the BEST leather Stu, JN, LT all used them. There was an ad in BST recently, a guy offered NOS McG Neumanns they were getting rid of in 2009 according to the ad.

I have an Otey version of a bullseye ( Silver Touch) that I use quite frequently.

I remember seeing a putter model named the Billy Baroo, but I can't remember the company that made it.

I do believe that the Billy Baroo putter by Ray Cook, was not an original Ray Cook or even designed by him. It came after his death. His original logo was simply his name "RAY COOK", sometimes w/San Antonio, Texas under it. I have a Hogan mallet putter with "dbrc" & was told it probably meant "designed by Ray Cook"....after his death, his name/company/copyrights were sold. I've seen at least 3 different logos for Ray Cook (other than the original) & there are at least 3 different styles of putter that I came across. 
The original Caddyshack Billy Baroo was made up in the prop room, I think....sure would be fun to have, when the $$$ come in from that future Powerball lotto that I'll win 😉

The putter in caddyshach was not a ray Cook billy baroo. It was a White Heather, Made in Scotland, George Nicoll, Leven, Fife, Scotland". White Heather, Made in Scotland, George Nicoll, Leven, Fife, Scotland".

Resurrecting this posting…. I just came across a reference to the putter that Judge Smails used in Caddyshack, it was sold at auction (final bid - $8,000 USD), but a picture showed it to be a George Nicoll made in Scotland hickory shafted putter…

Wow, I've never met such a character! But then again, every golf course has its unique encounters. Golfers are often very superstitious or quirky, doing things for good luck. Maybe it's just less common to have someone with two putters like the legendary Billy Baroo. But one can always hope to meet such a golfer someday!

A member of my regular 4some (before he passed away) only carried 9 normal clubs, but had 2 putters.  A mallet for anything longer than 6 feet, then an old 8802 style blade that he used inside of that, or for particularly speedy, braking putts.
