Mavrik Triple Diamond

So given we're at the end of life for the Mavrik TD - anyone have parting thoughts after playing it to conclusion?  Anyone planning to stick with it over the new Epic Speed (powered by Monster Energy and sponsored by X Box)?

Since getting a PRGR Launch Monitor - I've come to the conclusion that It's a good head - but offers very little forgiveness across the face.  Might look to move to something new for that reason alone.

Anyone else find this thing relatively unforgiving?

I’m sticking with my Mavrik TD.  It’s relatively forgiving provided I put a good swing on it.  If my path is too far inside no head is going to forgive that.  I’m not even going to hit any new drivers I’m so happy with my current set up.

I will say the MavrikTD is more forgiving than the retail Epic Flash SZ and the retail Mavrik.

That was my view.  I felt even on days I was swinging well, it was penal across the face. The TS2 has probably been my favourite driver in the last couple of years - even against the much loved G400 Max.

The Max I played for quite a while, but couldn't get along with due to the spin.

I run into the same issue with the TD if I put a 14g weight in the back - high launch / high spin - but if I move it to the front - I drop spin, gain speed, but am prone to hook it off the planet.  8g/8g is a bit more neutral, but I lose ball speed.

Good to hear I'm not the only person who feels like the performance is great when you hit it, but that it's not particularly forgiving.

Yeah - also had bought a weight kit and went to to get it fit.  I found the TD one of the best sounding drivers I’ve ever played, and also like the look at address, but when I missed, ugh.  I have a tendency to miss high on the face, and unfortunately I’m only +1/+2 up on the ball as I come through, and I am not spinning it enough to get the best out of it.

Shame - I really liked everything about the TD.

My god I’m late to the party but loving the triple diamond.

I have been playing Mavrik SZ with a Hulk shaft tipped 1 inch, playing length of 47 inch. 14g weight in front and 2 g weigh in the back. -1 degree and neutral settings on the adapter.

Picked up my Tour Issue Triple Diamomd head off of a professional friend who has moved on to Titleist. It’s 8.4 degree and I’ve switched the shaft and playing same weights/adapter settings as my SZ was.

This thing bombs and beats the standard SZ hands down in every way.

- Average strike it’s comparable from what I’ve seen so far I seem to have a few yards extra from the Triple D but nothing game changing, 5-6 yards at most.

- My miss is the biggest win for me. My miss is a low heel strike which spins up like crazy and loses me a lot of yardage. I was simulating this today trying to hit this Mis hit which comes in when I’ve been playing too much and my swing is fatigued. This doesn’t spin/balloon and drop at the sky anywhere near as bad.

- Perfect strike.. like for like comparing the SZ to the triple d on strikes were I absolutely crush the ball the Triple Diamond seems to be getting about an extra 20+ yard for me. It launches lower, from data appears to spin less and my general efficiency seems to be higher. All round winner for me as a high launch / high spinner of the ball.

Hey everyone, have lurked on the forum for years, picking up on some great nuggets from this community. Want to put the paddles to this thread for a bit if you’ll indulge me. Question for the playaz that have hit both: Does the Mav TD sound and feel similar to the standard Mav? I own the latter and find it to be one of the most satisfying drivers I’ve ever played in both of these areas; however, it’s a bit spinny and left-friendly for me, even with the sleeve at -1. I’ve hit the this years epic speed, and although it’s fairly long, I prefer the sound and the feel of the Mav. I also feel like several people in this thread noted a difference in sound/feel between the standard Mav and the standard SZ. Curious if the TD sounds/feels closer to the standard Mav or the SZ. Would also be interested in hearing if anyone has hot melted their Speed to mimic the sound and feel of the Mav. Thanks in advance for weighing in. Cheers.
