Honma TW-W4 Reviews

Anyone have some real world reviews on these? I know they won the “other sites” most wanted wedge last year but I can’t really find any review, written, video or otherwise in them. Looking to change up my bag and go 52/58/60 and the Modus 125 being stock has peaked my interest. I understand bounce/grinds are limited but how do they play? Spin, distance, accuracy etc. thanks!

I have them in 52/56/60 with the Modus 125 and I can say they are probably the best wedges I’ve had. For reference I’ve played a various Cleveland,Vokey, and Callaways over the years and these are as good if not better. Great spin and the variable COG is nice. Lower in the gap wedge, higher in the lob wedge. Very consistent distances and the Modus shaft is great. I liked them so much I bought a set of 747v irons are they are butter also.

I will also say two things that stand out that I really like are that the faces are fairly straight from heel to toe. I also really like the fact that when I lay the 56/60 wedges open the leading edge lays flat and close to the ground which is confidence inspiring when hitting flops and bunker shots if that makes sense.

Sounds good, exactly what I was looking for. Just wish some others would chime in ha. Can't believe more haven't played them.

I've had them (50,54,58) since last fall. They are awesome. Extremely versatile in all conditions. I love mine. I come from playing mostly the Mizzy T series wedges but have played/tired almost all.

They have exceptional feel and softness. NailedIt - Nailed the description!

I bought a set of TW W4 wedges and they are great. Very versatile, plenty of spin and they feel incredible.

I have them in 52, 56/12 and 60.

 

It was a surprisingly easy transition from Cleveland RTX3s (and Vokeys before that).

 

They spin like crazy and the turf interaction is good. I tend to be a digger on fuller shots and I’m also kind of short game practice freak. I like to have 4 different trajectories for my 56 and 60 I can call on and the Honda’s have been truly fun to play with from a variety of conditions.

 

The “Wedge Wizard” customizations look pretty cool, too.

I have the 56* and been comparing it to my MD5 Jaws 54*.  I really think they are great wedges and decided just today to put it in the bag after practicing with it at the range today.  

 

They do seem to impart a big more spin than the MD5 and the distance control seems a little easier for me.  I have a tendency to leave the MD5 short on relatively short pitches (inside 30 yards) and I don't have that problem (at least in practice) with the TW4.

 

If the performance on the course matches that on the practice range, I may replace the MD5 48* with a TW4 48*.

They are forged. More compact, very nice looking wedge.

Funny that this is on the front page tonight. I just bought 50, 54 & 58 with Modus 125 shafts, Tuesday night.

LOVE MINE!  I had a 56/12 and had it bent to 54 because I could only find a 58.  They feel so goo!

Just picked up a 52* (raw finish) off the 'bay, with a Modus 120X shaft (same as my irons).  Made sure it had the "Made in Japan - Sakata" stamp.

 

Had no intention of buying this - I just put some Vega VW-04 wedges in the bag and and the results have been good.  But it was a deal that I couldn't pass up, and I'm a ho, so...
