Atlanta resident for 20 years, have received practice round tickets at least 8 times, seems to be every-other year. I think there's a bias towards GA residents; seems counter intuitive, you'd think they'd want to bring folks in from across the country. My strategy is, don't max out your request. I put in for MON only, and then SUN only. I think Monday is the best day; friends fly in from across the country the prior FRI/SAT, play golf SAT/SUN, and then see the course in perfect shape MON morning at 8am. I put in for WED one year and got them; I think WED is the most overrated day; the main course closes at 3pm and the Par 3 tourney is the most crowded event you'll ever attend; once was enough for me.

ANGC is big against scalping, so my tin foil hat theory is, they look for people with a plan (someone who just wants Monday for example), and maybe they throw out a bunch of requests where people ask for all days. Maybe more of the former rather than later, maybe it really is all random selection...but I get Monday every other year for 20 years :)

Daughter got MONDAY this year using the strategy (she lives on her own in ATL) and her friend in town got WED last year using the strategy

I always ask for the max and have been selected. It’s an option allowed by their system - I have a hard time believing they are making negative assumptions about people that do that when that is probably what most do.

Yeah, it's just a crazy theory, and I'm not saying all max requests get thrown out, obviously a ton of max requests get accepted. I'm just saying I get accepted 50% of the time over 20 years by not maxing out.

Whatever ANGC is doing, all I know is we'll never find out and the process is guarded more tightly than Fort Knox.

It would be nice if it were truly random.

Maybe it’s just a preference of theirs for more local area folks. That would make a lot of sense.

All I know is that any time I am selected for any tickets, practice round or tournament proper, I will never sell a ticket. I plan on attending anytime I am fortunate to be selected. I have a few more buddies who would love to come along for the trip.

If you apply for all days and your application is selected you will get tickets for only one day not all days. If you apply for all days you’re essentially saying I’ll take whatever day you give me.

I only apply for Thursday and Friday. I've been numerous times to practice rounds so only interested in the main event. I want to be home watching the weekend rounds.

When I first started watching the Masters, you could still get on the waiting list, but it was a lengthy wait. Well, I wasn't putting up with that, so now I'm in the lottery. Not my finest moment.

The beautiful tradition of getting rejected is upon us. I’m in Canada and have yet to be selected going on 8 years so they obviously don’t want any Canadians to participate ⛳️ ?

I'm in Canada ( 0 for ever) but a guy who works for me got selected last year and a buddy of mine a few years ago.

I agree with you regarding Wednesday. The par 3 is too crowded and not really worth it trading for the main course closing at 3pm, fun to see once but that is it.

Old news, but 2020 ticket holders get same tickets for 2021, or can take refund

Just booked the Sleep Inn and Convention Center for $94/night for SUN 4/4/21

 

Now need to cancel all my 2020 hotel reservations, not sure I have records of them all

Never been selected either, but hasn’t stopped me from getting excited every year I put in telling myself “maybe this will be the year!”

2021 Practice Round & Daily Tournament Lottery

On August 12, Chairman Fred Ridley announced that, due to the risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Masters Tournament will take place November 9-15 without patrons or guests on the grounds. Our patrons are a key component to the history and tradition of the Masters. However, ensuring the health and safety of everyone associated with the Tournament is our most important priority. We wanted to make you aware of how this will affect the 2021 ticket selection process. Ticket winners for the 2020 Masters will be given first priority to receive Tournament tickets next April. All remaining inventory will then be distributed through the 2021 ticket selection process. Results for all ticket applicants will be posted online at masters.com beginning September 15. Can’t wait to be rejected.  Again.  Maybe they do favor Georgia residents.  They sure don’t favor SC residents who are a little over an hour and 15 away.
