Thanks for the link, but they're not the right year. I'm looking for 1983-84 vintage.

PW-50 loft 63.5 lie 35.5 length
9 -45 loft 63 lie 35.75 length
8 -41 loft 62.5 lie 36.25 length
7 -37 loft 62 lie 36.75 length
6 -33.5 lo 61 lie 37.25 length
5 -30 loft 60 lie 37.75 length
4 -26.5 lo 59 lie 38.25 length
3 -23 loft 58 lie 38.75 length
2 -19.5 lo 57 lie 39.25 length
1 -17 loft 56 lie 39.75 length

I had a set of these given to me in 1985. A man from my church had a son about my age that died of leukemia. I played a ben hogan sand wedge and the loft on it was 57 degrees. I was really modern back then. I had them bent one degree upright and one degree strong. They had regular shafts in them. I soon traded them for a set of Ben Hogans with a no 4 shaft in them. And then went on to x100's about a year or so later. I also got a set of laminate woods with them the driver, three, four, five wood. I even remember they had a plaid carry bag. Red and black and yellow. The bag was kind hard to take for a 25 year old back then. But we wore shoes with kilties and those tennis shorts that were white and not very long too. Hope this helps. I have the reciept for getting the bent. It was 10 dollars for loft and lie.

Just acquired a set of mid 80s Golden Ram Tour Grind forged blades. Can anyone tell me what the stock lofts are supposed to be 2 through SW?
I inherited them from my late father in law, who got them from a former tour-pro. With TT FM5.5 shafts. I used them as my first set when I started golf. Ideal beginner set. Punishes every wrong move and forces you to swing properly.
I noted that the ball flight is rather high until I read (in this threat) that the lofts are slightly higher than modern clubs.

I always get remarks of people I want to check out my gear. Especially pros. And also my persimmon woods...

I miss (lost?) the i9 and the shaft of my w1 is broken. Would be great if I could complete the set again. Any tips were I could find a i9?

Check out my set.

I must admit, I'm upgrading to a modern set at the moment: Bridgestone J38 FW and J38DPC irons. Great clubs...

Lovely clubs Reinout. I'm not sure the same can be said for those feet, but the irons and woods are very pretty.
Best of luck with your search for a 9-iron.

Where are you playing your golf? Germany? The Netherlands?

This post is old as dirt but I'm diggin' it up.

I have my grandad's kilties and just scored some Golden Ram Axial Tour Grinds, 2-P for 58 bucks and I'm so ashamed of myself. The seller said his wife made him sell them because he kept them in the bedroom. The dude was a plus 3. Not sure I can sport the tennis shorts, but I sure as hell am going to ROCK these irons! Damn near mint. Maybe I'll rock some tennis shorts as a tribute to the old school.

I have my original GRTG Axials sitting in my RAM tour bag in the basement. Shaft is the TT FM 6.5, and is waaaay too stiff for me nowadays, but they are still one of the best irons ever made.

I played or Tour Grinds for many years. Great irons. I much prefer the old school lofts since the short iron steps between clubs is wider so the distance gaps between clubs is more meaningful.

2-20°, 3-23° and so on to a P-50°- which were "standard" during that time. My set is a 1979/80 model 3-SW with the original Dynamic at 37.5" for the 5iron. Later on, bent the SW to 58° to fit a Golden Ram BeCu 53° SW :)

Which model do you have? Vibration matched came out in the early to mid 80's and the Frequency matched came after, in the mid to late 80's.

Best blades ever made in my opinion. Enjoy!

The OP is long gone but I picked up the Axial Tour Grinds from 1989 I think. Glad to hear the P wedge is 50° since it means I can lose my gap wedge and carry another iron.

Mine have got the TT FM 6.5s also. What are these comparable too? S300s? I'm playing ZZ65s now but they feel a little too light. Here's what I have on the way.

I just came back from the range. My current range club is a Tour grind 8i with the original Rilfe 6.5 in it.

I still have a NIB c. 1982 set with the Precision 6.5 in them. Best shaft ever made.

What's up Big mac!

I love mine with the FMs! I don't know too much about them honestly. Wish I knew what they weighed in at for starters.

Recently picked up another set of heads and going throw some KBS shafts in them. Mix up old school and new school. What do you think?

Very well kept set of blades. I'm looking forward to taking mine to the range for a go around and then to the course. The 3 degree increase in loft and the change in weight will keep me straight.
Thanks. The guy said he sold them cuase his wife got sick of him keeping them in the bedroom. They're pretty dang clean. And check out the topline! F%$#ing Beautiful!

BTW, they don't have much bounce which might take some getting used to. I don't really like hitting them off mats but on the course they're magic.

On my home course, I have grass on the range. They have mats but I refuse to use them. The guy that taught me how to play golf plays SMT forged MB irons and he told me that hitting them off of a mat throws them out of whack. I'm glad to have something with more weight to them and a stiff flex shaft. Not only will it force me to swing correctly but I will sure end up with more distance over what I have now. I looked for a set of used Cleveland CG1's but they want between 200-350 bucks for a set. My whole bag hasn't cost me that to date.
