Club building - shaft puller

Anyone here who does club building for their juniors want to share what they are using for a graphite shaft puller? Steel shaft pulling is no issue (heat it up and twist/turn/pull it off with some care). Graphite requires a bit more finesse. I had a graphite shaft head pulled and adapter tip installed for my kid the other day. It was $43....$18 for adapter, $22 for the pull/install + tax (ouch!!).

With how much we are starting to tinker with clubs I was no longer willing to pay the price, drive to the shop, wait around etc...so i started doing all my own stuff. For graphite the heating requires a little more finesse - just rotate more don't leave in continuous spot for too long, but once heated I just pull it off with my hand wearing one of those BBQ super heat gloves (same as graphite.) A heat gun works but takes too long a good torch is super fast and easy.

This is the one, get it, I have one also, it’s good. Use a heat gun and not a torch, graphite shafts are a bit delicate. The Callaway club heads are hard to remove with a torch. You’ll need extra heat, but with a heat gun.

I bought a spring loaded shaft puller a long while ago and it worked but was a real PITA. Now use one small piece of the original shaft puller like this:

Works great and it usually does not take much heat to get the glue loose. I use a heat gun myself but others recommend a torch as it is faster and works well with graphite if done properly.

I've used the Golfworks puller for years, pulled hundreds of shafts with no problem. Use a torch, not a heat gun, the heat gun puts heat where you don't want it. Heat a little, try the head, heat a bit, try again until the head loosens. Do not twist, do not try to pull it with hand, let the puller do the work. A little practice and you'll get it.
