Best Nike driver?

DixieD

Recommended Posts

I had one of the old SQ's, I liked it from what I can remember. I used a Vr Tour for YEARS. Absolutely loved those things. I still have an 8.5° and 9.5° head that I'll never part with. Not the most forgiving but if you hit it well those things would FLY. When I had an AD DI in there it was the longest driver I'd ever played until I broke it

I still game the vapor pro from time to time. Keeps up with anything I have from the vast array of drivers I have in the golf room 😄 The vapor fly and fly pro are also very good. Love my VR Tour driver and Vapor TW. NIKE made some good drivers, real shame they are not making clubs anymore. Oh well, makes using them a little more special.

VR Pro Ltd was sweet, long when struck well, and classic shaped.  Too bad Nike was out before everyone started putting low rear weights for lower COG, lower spin, and higher MOI.

I had an OG Sasquatch last year, I liked it but wanted something adjustable. It's the only Nike driver I've hit. They can be had pretty reasonable.

Oh this takes me back, in college I gamed a Sumo 4950 with a matrix orange crush and a Sasquatch Tour with a Rombax 80b proto. The SQ Tour was such a bomber

Another vote for the SQ Tour!  Loved that club...one of the last drivers I was really comfortable with.  Shape was perfect.

A vote for the Vapor Fly Pro

I still have mine. The Ping G400 LST and the Srixon Z585 have been added to my collection but I am seriously considering going back to the Nike. It looks good, it goes far, and it goes straight.

I played the Vapor Fly Pro, and still do on occasion for nostalgia sake. Sound and feel are great, but it demands a good strike.

This.

The Vapor pro and the Vapor Fly Pro were the best. Mute the sound with a few grams of hot melt. I always put a rip phenom NL in 'em.

They will keep up with any of today's drivers, when compared to length. But miss hit that mf'er and gooooooooooooood lawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwd it's miles off the planet.

I played Nike irons but hated their drivers because of the obnoxious sound.. ran into a Vapor Flex 440 during the closeout for $150 thought sure I'll give it a try. For the next 6 months that the head stayed in one piece, it was an unbelievable driver. The sound it makes is more like a tennis racquet than a golf club, and it almost doesn't make sense how something sound like that could hit the ball so long and straight. Than the epoxy on it failed and head split in two. I did manage to put it back together but the confidence was shot. Every shot felt like it could happen again.

Then last year I picked up a prior model Vapor Flex.. the black and volt color one. To my amazement that it is even more muted than the 440, and I seem to get even better distance with it. One guy I played with use a SIM was not amused that he was constantly 10 yds shorter.

I have yet to try Vapor Pro but many seem to swear by it. I honestly can't quite imagine it performs better, rather it perhaps sounds more like normal driver, instead of something that I could barely tell if I hit the ball or not.

I tried several different epoxy and the last one I used was JB Weld. Need to clean up the joint really well so you can get the clean surface. Put light pressure front to back and let it cure for at least full 24 hours.

It has been holding nicely since and it's been 4 years although I haven't been using that driver much, but I do make it a point to use it a few times each year.

That looks awesome!

Did you clean up any leftover epoxy in the groove as well? That took me quite some time digging with a tiny flathead watch screw driver

Thanks! I worked really hard grinding and getting the old epoxy out. Told the Mrs that this was it's last chance lol. The groove was the hardest part....

My Black Vapro Fly Pro is back in the bag since I sold my Sim2 10.5. Just hit 305yds yesterday on 18th hole. It still flies far and straight.
