I mean I am inclined to agree that $400 is a lot and may even seem ridiculous. That being said, I am sure they will sell a bunch of them. If you can spend $280 on a putter shaft chances are you can spend $400. For me, they take an already crazy expensive putter to the next level. I agree with you that more companies will start offering options like this as well.

Here you go. You want to try a composite putter shaft that is not $400 bucks? Try one of these. Oh, by the way, you can't put a grip on it.. I have been super curious about these for a while. But the idea of not have my grip of choice makes me nervous..

Having said that, if you only have the choice of .370 tip diameter and need to sand them down to fit .355 tip putters like Camerons are, then I won't be taking a chance on ruining a $400 shaft.

Why not just offer a .355 tip option that goes in straight away without all the extra work?

Honestly if you take it to someone that knows what they are doing it should be fine. Only option is .370 right now.

What does this do that say taking a XStiff Program 130 shaft and tipping it a ton doesn’t do?

I had a C Taper X in my Method putter, and now just to what ever shaft Artisan put in a putter and I really have noticed no difference.

My dads Artisan putter has a KBS putter shaft in it and again it seemed no different to me but I was jealous of the black shaft.

FYI I submitted a question about why the price went up so drastically to 400. Here is the response for what it is worth.

“The OZIK TP putter shaft was our previous offering and was advertised on our website for $280. We just recently officially launched the TPZ putter shaft which is an evolution of the former model. We’ve added some newly available exotic materials and have changed some flag shapes to offer even better feel and performance. The labor that goes into this shaft was also extended, so between the new materials and labor, we had to raise our price.”

And I thought it was to just capitalize off of Fowler and others using them ?

Haha at those rationalizations. I'll say again it doesn't take exotic materials or an R&D team to make a super-stiff graphite shaft. Guaranteed their cost to produce it is <$20 per shaft.

I just picked up the Accra putter shaft they run about $100 plus install. They have 4 different flexes available. Steel is right in the middle so the 300 and 400 are progressively stiffer than steel. Then the 100 and 200 are progressively softer than steel. It all depends on feel and the tempo of your putting stroke. The new shafts are silver in color and look so much better than last years that had god awful graphics on it. I went with the FX200 since I have a fairly smooth tempo. First of all the putter feels amazing now and the first thing I noticed the first time I took it out was the consistency on the distance control. If I hit 3 balls on a 20 foot putt they were all within 6 inches on the distance. I don't now if the shaft is causing a better strike consistency leading to better distance control or what but it immediately was noticeable. I have only had one practice session and one round with it but I am very impressed. I had no 3 putts while I didn't make a bunch of long putts They were always around the hole. I plan on doing an in depth review with pictures here shortly. I wanted to play at least 3 or 4 rounds before posting any conclusions. If you want to try an alternative to the LA Golf putter shaft for a better price check out the Accra.

Here are a couple of quick Pictures the shaft has a logo which is not visible from the back of the shaft and has a ghost/faint logo which is barely visible while putting. I this it is very nice compared to some of the other options.

I may have to give the Accra shaft a try, i like the look of it too. I put a Stability Tour shaft in a Toulon Austin and haven’t been that impressed. The Tour version weighs less than regular Stability shaft, and i definitely notice the lighter weight. I haven’t tried regular Stability shaft but wish i went with that. The feel at impact is great, but the lighter weight is messing with my tempo and speed control. I am intrigued by the matrix shaft, but at $400 it really seems crazy.

The expensive material Zylon was already in the Matrix PZ putter shaft, so that´s not why. Matrix went bancrupt and LA Golf took over the remnants. The new LA Golf shaft is not as stiff and does not have as low torque as the old Matrix PZ, so I don´t know why it should be more expensive, more than they want to make some more money ... ... and of course pay some players ...

I doubt that is very accurate. Not trying to justify a $400 putter shaft, but check out the prices on rolls of premium carbon fiber and prepregs. Add in tooling, finishing, labor etc etc and $20 per shaft wouldn't even cover half of the materials, let alone the rest.

Well I'll admit this, I did just find that LA Golf Shafts makes all their shafts in the USA. So I'll concede that maybe their costs are a little higher. Kudos to them for making their shafts here, I'm willing to pay a little more for products made in America. But I still think they would have made more money selling these at the $200 price point.
