The putter is a PLD Hovland. There is a custom program for it through Ping that is through your Ping reps. It is on the higher price point but reasonable for a custom putter. Here is mine from before

Here's mine!

The program is very much alive and running. I got mine two months ago.    1. you don’t have to go to Phoenix to get one (I did a Zoom call with the tour guys); 2. They will mail you a putt

i know this take is tired, but man Ping is missing out on so many opportunities by not offering high end milled through retail or custom through the website.  I have 3 Zings and a Myday that id love to have modern 'PLD' version of,  especially with that raw finish Hovland has

But they really are not. It’s such a low percentage of golfers that are looking for that.95% of your golfers won’t pay more than 200 for a putter.

Scotty Cameron has people paying $100 annually just to be a part of a club.. that's how big their following is.  sure it would never be for the masses, but there are plenty of Ping loyalists out there, and many have a Scotty in their bag.  Aren't the margins on a milled putter high?  I think there's a way to make it equitable.

They already offer the option. You have to fly to Phoenix get a fitting and they will make you anything you want. Run you around 1500.00 much less than a tour Cameron

1. you don’t have to go to Phoenix to get one (I did a Zoom call with the tour guys);

2. They will mail you a putting cradle, you do a few sessions with their app and share the reports with them so they can analyze the data and they will recommend something based on that and your preferences. They were 100% spot on with their recommendation for me and I could not be happier.
3. Options are limited. Certain heads and necks take longer. They can’t do every finish with every head/neck combination.

4. The price is not $1500. You do need to buy it through a PING account.

Here is the extent of the program right now.

Model offerings:

  • Anser, Anser 2
  • Prime Tyne – Double bend (Straight or Slight arc), Anser 4 hosel, Anser hosel
  • Kushin - Double bend (Straight or Slight arc), Anser 4 hosel, Anser hosel
  • DS 72 (Victor Hovland’s putter) - Double bend (Straight or Slight arc)

Finishes:

Carbon steel – Stealth or Patina

Stainless – Matte Raw

Grooves:

Smooth, shallow grooves, deep grooves (TR), Pebax insert

Sightlines:

Line, Lines, Dot, Dots

Weight:

Weight can be custom to player’s cadence by adding tungsten (heavier only)

This week, the PGA Tour is at TPC San Antonio on the Oaks Course for the Valero Texas Open. GolfWRX was on-site Tuesday to catch a glimpse into the bags of some of the world’s top golfers.

The field of 144 is getting ready to battle starting Thursday for the $7.7 million purse, with $1.386 million going to the winner. The tournament is also the last event where players can qualify for The Masters, just like Canadian Corey Conners did last year.
