Bandon Trip - September Single w/ Wife

Tough tough decision but we decided to push this back 2.5 weeks. Since this is our first trip to Oregon we want to go after its had some time to recover. There aren't many things I put above golf, but safety and health is certainly two of them.

Debbie in Reservations is absolutely fantastic - she's phenomenal and made the switch effortless. Sounded like they were getting tons of calls about cancellations/changes today for next week.

We'll arrive at the end of September and here's how the rounds will look...

Day 1: Preserve / Bandon Dunes

Day 2: Old Mac / Pacific

Day 3: Sheep / Trails

Day 4: Sheep / check out

Apparently the Trails round is "last guaranteed to finish" before dark so I am incredibly pumped about that. Was hoping to play Sheep twice so it works out better.

Also got bumped from a Golf Single to one of the NW/NE rooms at the Lodge, so sweet!

We will hopefully be in much better shape here in a couple weeks.  Once  we get into a good rain pattern for a few days things should improve drastically.  Glad you were able to make the switch.

And the NE/NW rooms are quite a bit roomier than the Singles, so that is good news.  I always try to book one of those for a trip down, because I take way too much stuff and it's nice to be able to spread out a little.  You can also get a good look at the weather coming in over the coast from the little balcony in the mornings, and it's a great space to share a glass of wine in the evenings.

The revised schedule looks great, too.

Appreciate it, spud. I kept going back and forth on whether to press forward or not, but it just felt like we wouldn't get the full Oregon/Bandon experience because of the air quality. I was upset for a few minutes, but Reservations was really helpful and made me feel more confident about pushing it back.

Looking forward to the next dates even more now and should hopefully be able to travel down the coast prior to getting to Bandon.

All the best to you and your fellow Oregonians - excited to post some new updates soon!

For what it's worth, I think you made the right call.  The course cameras look terrible, here's a shot from yesterday, the views today look even worse.

Yeah this was a big factor. First time ever visiting Bandon and not having any of the scenic views wouldn't have been ideal... I would have been OK with the rain that's in this week's forecast, but just feel like the experience wouldn't have lived up to its potential.

On my way home from Bandon. Smoke was not too bad, but we have several rounds with heavy dense fog. We were literally guessing our lines. Overall the trip was a blast. Everyone at the resort  was top notch. Definitely make dinner reservations in advance. Their capacity is very limited. Hopefully  you will have some awesome weather.

How's everything looking there, spud? We fly out on Tuesday and would still like to make the long trek down the coast to Coquille, if at all possible!

We've had a couple solid rain fronts come through, so we are much better.  Air quality in the valley is fine.  The forecast for next week at Bandon is superb.

All systems are Go.

Thank you sir!! I've been tracking the weather too and I am hoping it holds steady. Looks like a beautiful few days!

Absolutely cannot wait - already planning out my rounds for this weekend as "prep" and been holding myself back from starting to pack clothes and such. Christmas morning vibes!

Gentlemen (and any ladies) - what a trip...first time in my life I debated just canceling my flights home and never going back. Alright that may be dramatic, but I truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Feeling very sad right now as we wait on our connecting flight back home, but I will be sure to post a thorough trip report once I pull the hundreds of photos from my wife’s camera and grab a few favorites.

Stay tuned!!!

Also for any IG folks out there, give my page @drovethegreen a follow
