New Project X LS Iron Shaft

  • 3 weeks later...

After a few rounds of play with my ping Blueprint heads, i have the ability to work the ball better now than with my regular PX 6.5.  I can keep it under the wind.  Just learning my new distances.  My distance gap did shrink down a little which is nice for me!!  The performance in yardage is better than my KBS CTAPER130X but the harshness has gone away!!  My wrists feel better.  The shaft just works for me!!  My scoring average went down after i dialed in the yardages.  Overall very happy with the shafts.  If you are interested in trying some out or need a set PM me!!

this article can't be right, can it? is the 6.5 technically S+ in the LS? or is it still X like the normal project x 6.5's?

I love PIG as a review website but that “review” was one of the worst in their site.  It read more like an review of the website description more then first hand account.

I’d take absolutely nothing from this review.

Yeah agreed, it also has flat out bad info. The Project X LS is not a "in the 120g weight category" and it is not "for the player that wants a lighter weight shaft". They are the same weights as the original PX Rifle, and the arbitrary designation of S/S+/X is just that, arbitrary. Also saying that the PX LS 6.0 performs the same as the PX 7.0 doesn't make sense either.

Am I in the minority where the LS felt softer than the PX? I got fitted into PX 7.0. The spin difference between the two was maybe 100 RPM (in a Mizuno MP-20 6 iron) and the peak height was almost the same. I just didn't see that much difference in the bay.

When I tested them in the summer they felt really smooth and very easy to load.  Was surprised as I usually am not a fan of project x.  However, these felt very smooth and helped keep my trajectory in a very consistent window.

I used to play golf with Zach before he moved to Connecticut. He is not really an equipment junkie and surprised he writes reviews.

After 10 years of C Taper X, I just moved to PX 7.0 - to me they feel very different, flight similar on full shots, I hit the PX slightly further for the same club. I can flight the PX slightly better for very low shots; that was the main reason to move. After all the chat of PX being stupid stiff, its feel more than being like rebar.

My set of 7.0 LS Shafts should be in by Friday according to my club guy so hopefully should have them all built up for after the holidays and can give some direct comparisons to C Taper 130X. I think i'm going to shaft up a 6 iron straight in and try that first to see if I like them straight in or if I'll want to SS1X.

Keep ya posted.

I agree the CTAPER130X is halfway between the 2.  That's why i hard stepped the LS 6.5, to get closer to the 6.8 range?  The PX 7.0 is hard on my wrist now at 46.  The smoothness and lack of harsh vibrations on mishits sold me.  Plus i am only 5'9" so hard stepping gave me the shorter length i wanted.

Just got my first round with the PX LS installed.  Granted it was 34 degrees here in MN, but they have really tightened up my P770s.  Getting to hit through most of the bag I was pleased by the “tight” but not harsh feeling .

I believe it would be these based on my findings of FCM.

X100                      6.8 fcm

Px 6.5                    7.0 fcm

C taper X               7.2 fcm

X7 / PX 7.0             7.5 fcm

Does this mean this PX LS should be "stiffer" then normal PX. I would assume it would have a higher FCM, so, you would think 6.5 PX LS would I guess come out somewhere in the 7-7.5 range.

So if I’m looking at your photos correctly.....you’re saying they will be way too flexible for the average Wrx’er?

Could they not have come out with a 8.5 or 9.0?!?

I still can’t get my 9 iron to carry more than 225 and it because of the spin when I’m hitting my trap-draw-stinger-knockdown-punch being way too high. Last week I hit the bottom of a Cessna with my PW.....but it still flew 208 to a back left pin tucked 2 paces from the fringe....on a 4 tiered green.....on the side of a mountain, next to a Goats on The Roof gravity coaster complex.

This is the best thing I've seen all day. Thank you good sir.

Maybe you can help me out lol.

I game the X7's and they've really helped my game. They're definitely stiff and you can't take swings off.

But I've heard the regular PX 7.0's are too harsh and the 6.5's maybe launch too high. But would the 6.5 LS fall in between the 7.0 and 6.5? And how might they compare to the X7?

Thanks!
