Cleveland RTX Zipcore Wedges

Recommended Posts

I haven't liked the looks of these in Cleveland's ads but saw them up close in a golf shop last weekend (I don't get into golf retail shops much anymore) and really liked them.  Finish looked great.  Very compact heads.  Nice.

Why is raw more expensive in this version where it was the same in the RTX-4's?

the raw wedges are supposed to be tour spec. they all have a T stamped on the hosel. they meet tighter tolerances. supposed to be the same wedges that would go into a tour player's bag, save for extra grinding they may want.

any super club building gurus(I'm an above avg. club builder-less than super lol )  know the max loft I can add to the 2003 Cleveland 900 tour action form forged wedge at a 52/6* bounce- I'm doing the one length thingy and in order to make my wedges longer and keep my 900's I  need to bend/add loft to a 52 (which has a head weight less than a 56/60) to the max loft I can add to it- hopefully at least to a 58*/ thanks in advance.

Yeah, but has anyone asked the question, "Why is the raw finish more expensive than the regular finishes?"  🤣

I have a set of the raw coming my way. I thought about the custom grinds, but the mids treated me well in the RTX-4. I had the x-low in the 58* and thought about getting a heel grind on that one, but tbh, I think most that of that is probably in my head.

I ordered 3 raw wedges last week with the s400 shafts in them.  I ordered a 52* that I'll have bent to 53* to replace my current RTX4 when the grooves wear out on it, and I also ordered 2 56* mid bent weak to 58*.

I had the RTX 4 56 mid bent to 58 originally, and wore down the grooves on it, and by the time I went to replace it, the raw finish wasn't available anymore.  I decided to get 2 just to be safe this time.

I'll be selling my TM Hi Toe 56 bent to 58  once the zipcore wedges come in.  I like the Hi Toe around the green and bunkers, but I was better with the RTX 4 from 50-80 yards.

I messed around with them today. They are so sweet that I may be moving away from Ping wedges for the first time in years. Everyone says bounce is your friend, but I have a shallow angle of attack and the 54 MID and 58 Low were winners for me.

I got my shipping confirmation this morning. My wedges will be in on Monday. I’ll be able to give them a go on Tuesday afternoon for a quick 9 and some range time.

are these any good?

My heart is set on the srixon zx7 and i need my wedges to match!

Can never go wrong with Cleveland’s wedges, good year after year. With the addition of the tour rack and the ability to have them do custom hand grinds they just keep getting better.

I have been extremely pleased with my Zipcore 58 high bounce wedge.  I have had it in the bag for a few months now and it has done everything I have asked of it.  I rarely hit full shots with this club or its predecessors.   I use it mainly for partial shots 50 yards in, around the green, and out of the sand.

I just got my Tour Raw Zipcores out this week. It made me realize the difference between my 2 year old RTX4 grooves and the brand new Zipcore grooves. I need to change out my wedges more often. The Zipcores performed exactly the way I expected them to. Love the extra zip. I didnt get any hand grinds, so the grinds seemed very similar to the RTX4. I'm not uncovering anything new here, but I'm sure glad I got new wedges!

Here is one for now. I’m playing tomorrow and will take pics of the grinds. I absolutely love these wedges. I usually don’t get too worked on wedges but these things are incredible. Hit a ton of chips, pitches and bunker shots yesterday morning. I went with:

Raw 50 Mid rounded leading edge, 54 Full (S grind) and 60 Full (S grind). All with Modus 115. I am still amazed nobody swingweights in the golf world. Mine were +1/4” and the shaft is only 6g lighter and mine were all D3.5ish. Maybe the 115 is counterbalanced. They feel fine but will rebuild next week.

Anything in particular that you wanna see? Just looking for finish, or did you want to see grinds and stuff? I just got the normal mid with no hand grinding, so it's not that exciting.

Had the chance to hit these in stores and wow were they impressive. I went in ready to order some T20's but I had much better control over these. Not sure if that is shaft related or not but I hope you can get the Tour Rack versions in Canada as I am leaning toward these.

Never thought I would play Cleveland wedges even though I love Srixon

No just looks, finish basically. I've held the Satin Chromes, just curious about the raw, topline view and the back maybe 🙂 Thanks mate
