Srixon 2020 Irons ZX7, ZX5, ZX Utility

After having the ZX5s in my possession since right after Black Friday, I finally switched out the shafts to Modus 120s and put them into play today. Hitting them at the range before my round was kind of iffy, but on the course they performed. Outperformed my Mavrik Max irons that I have been playing for almost a year.

Congrats on the new irons!

 

Curious on your thoughts of the v-sole  compared to the Mavrik irons and difference in feel.

I am not good at describing feel, but when you hit one pure with the ZX5s, you know it and it feels good. With the Mavrik Max irons, mishits feel just about the same as center contact (unless you really mishit one). 

 

With the Mavrik Max irons, i used to hit a lot of fat shots and created huge divots. Maybe its partly swing improvements, but I seemed to make more ball first contact with the ZX5s and take shallow divots. When I hit a little fat with the ZX5s, I felt like the v-soles help the club cut through the turf with less digging. Seems like the v-soles do what they were advertised to do.

Not sure why you’re waiting until the 6th, I’ve ordered 2 sets already through my shop for myself and my buddy.

Yeah, V-sole will definitely help minimize digging-there a fair bit of bounce along the leading edge.

I don’t believe either are a free option, but I ordered C Taper and LZ and neither were.

LS is a $25 upcharge, and GOST isn’t offered.

Just spent some time hitting these today.  Little difference between the irons in the demo 7i but I actually hit the ZX7 a touch further and more consistently.  Both felt ridiculously good.

 

BTW, in Japan, the hybrids have a steel shaft option.  If memory serves, 39.25” in 22 deg. and 38.75” in 25 deg.  They also feel awesome.

 

Good sale going on now through 11 Jan so plenty of time to think through combo options...

Where are you located and who's doing the fitting ?   I believe the Launch date is January 15th but I'm old and forget stuff 🙂

Just received the ZX5 4-iron and ZX 3 utility.

 

 

These look real good and really similarOh  in size!

 

Here are comparison photos of the two fresh off the DHL truck.

I will try to post photos of the ZX7 with these when I get the chance...

ZX5 has  the sticker on the face.

Need Advice for new ZX7 order.  Always been a KBS tour (Stiff) soft stepped guy (in 919 hot metal right now) but feel like I need to go a little lighter. Do I go :

·          C Taper Lite Soft stepped?

·         AMT Black?

·         Something I haven’t mentioned?  

 

AMT makes SO much sense, but I am afraid of change.  Thanks!

Photos of ZX7 5-iron, ZX5. 4-iron amd ZX 3 utility.

They all blend very well.

 

Last photo is of the ZX5 4/iron-the back of the cavity is visible at address, but no more than my J15CB

4-iron.

Does anyone know if the KBS $Taper LIte are offered?  Seems odd they have C-Taper and C-Taper lite option.  But did see $Taper option just not lite.
