Srixon 2020 Irons ZX7, ZX5, ZX Utility

Update:

Just got on the launch monitor with the 7 iron.  Numbers look really good for me, when I make a good strike.  170-172 yard carry with 2 yards of roll out, 5400 rpm spin and launch of 17 degrees.  This actually matches my p790's on yardage, but less roll out which is great.  Feel is very solid, I am definitely looking forward to hitting the golf ball with these irons on the course.  It is going to be 45 degrees here tomorrow, and I am off work, so I will try and get out and hit them on the course.

Negatives: (for those asking about build quality)

They put the wrong grips on, even though the build sheet had the correct grips listed.  Luckily, I had a spare set of Lamkin Sonar Tour grips that I have been wanting to play, so I had my club builder change them today for me.  My club builder noticed that the shafts were installed slightly off by a couple of degrees.  He said he sees this with Mizuno also from time to time.  He believes it is because some builders at the OEM's let the heads hang with the toe down when they build them, so the toe being at 6:00 does not line up exactly with the face perfectly. The ferrules look very nicely done, and I don't notice any other concerns with the build.  We didn't bother checking loft of lie since I ordered them standard.

Did you just go with the stock lofts, or modify at all?

Did you use the same shafts in your 5-PW/AW setup, as in your utility?  Or different shaft?

Just got the call from the shop; the Srixons are in. Ordered on 1/05/21 and received 0n 01/13/21.

I ordered custom lengths and lies, stock lofts.  Nippon steel in the irons and the stock Recoil in the utility.

Sorry, how can a shaft be installed a couple degrees out?

I’m thinking someone on the assembly line wasn’t paying attention.

Too many iron orders from GOLFwrx members and they’re under the gun and can’t handle the pressure😳

Yes, the graphics on the shaft are rotated to the left a couple of degrees rather than perfectly in line with the club face.

has anyone that tried these also tried the T100/620 cb? Recently snagged a set of 620, but this thread has caught my eye and now I'm wondering if I should make the switch to the zx7?

I don't have a pic for you but I can tell you the top line from ZX5 and ZX7 are nearly indistinguishable. I couldn't believe it when I was hitting both during my fitting. Literally could not tell what I was hitting when just looking from address.

Wow, I placed my order on Sunday and they shipped out yesterday. Quick turnaround considering I ordered "exotic" shafts (DG120). Now I'll be hoping FedEx actually delivers on time (or early would be nice) and I have them by Monday like it currently shows.

Same here!! I was shocked to get the fedex tracking email today!

I got out on the course today and practiced with the zx7 irons.  I hit a couple of balls on each hole.  It is 45 degrees here and I was hitting to temporary greens, but had the course to myself, so that was nice.  It is hard for me to separate the Steelfiber shaft and the zx7 head, but I love the feel of these.  Steelfibers have a very muted feel that some people describe as "dead".  I played them about 4-5 years ago, before moving on the P790's coupled with the Fuji Pro Tour Spec shafts, which have a more lively feel.  I actually like the feel of both shafts, even though they are very different.  The zx7 heads have a very dense feel to them.  The sweet spot isn't a soft feel, but much more dense solid feel than other irons I have played recently.  I really like this feel.  Not sure if the temperature is affecting the feel, but either way, I really like it.  Performance was nice.  Well struck shots had a nice trajectory with expected distance.  I hit a few shots on the toe side, and it was very easy to tell where I missed it and ball flight was predictable (moderate draw and 10 yards short).  I am very excited to have these in the bag this season.

9 Holes in this afternoon. These irons are fantastic. My initial impression on the ZX Utility was correct. 245 out today and used it just to check distance. I was 2 paces off the front of the green. It is a cannon and looks so good. I love Ping so much but the i210s are going up for sale.

How is Srixon's build quality. Any concerns with factory built irons.

I've had other manufacturers send me clubs with misaligned grips or swing weights off by a few points. Any concern with Srixon doing something like that?

Pings are great for build quality and i have had no issues with my 565's.  Still, IMO, the best looking irons along with the new ZX's of course.

Mine just showed up today. Ordered January 4 and I live in south Florida.  X5/X7 combo with modus 105s shafts. Ordered blind. They look fantastic. Think I made the right decision to split at the 7/8.

Posted a couple times on here looking for some advice on my split. Based on being a 12 handicap, feedback I got was that it most likely made sense to go 7/8. Big difference in size of soles.

I'm around same HC as you and am torn whether I go full ZX5, full ZX7 (probably not) or combo.

Did you tell any feel/sound difference b/w the ZX5 7 iron and the ZX7 8 iron?  That's the only thing that I'm somewhat leery about, because they are 2 totally different types of construction

Any trajectory difference?  How's the gapping between the 7 and 8?  As anticipated if it was a non-combo set?

So I have a bit off a strange question. I have had the 2017 P790’s.  I like the blade with of that club. Are the 5’s or the 7’s closer to the P790 blade with?

I have a set of PXG 3rd generation p’s and I am having a bit of difficulty with them that I attribute to Blaine with.  Only 2 more centimeters, but just experiencing some issues.
